I feel completely pathetic because I am sure this is an easy kill for most people who have played the witcher 2. I have played alot of rpgs but for some reason this fight I Cannot get past? I am lvl 8 and have earned enough gold to get the best gear and potions possible in the first main town (I made sure of that after my first 30+ failed attempts). The first day I attempted I was level seven and did fail at the QTE at least 30 times untill i was too frusterated i shut the game off. i have literally read every review and watched every video I could possibly find of other people killing the kayran. I have Absolutely No problem trapping and severing all the tentacles, I do it in a matter of 1-2 minutes, but then the QTE (riding on the tentacle i fail!) I have followed all tips ; disabled Difficult qtes, I even lowered the difficulty to easy lol i know sad right.. And still as soon as the character jumps onto the tentacle I click left mouse repeatedly and fill the yellow bar. No "Hit space bar warning" pops up at all, I just continue to click the left button, and then I get thrown off too early? And from what I have read that if you get thrown off before kayran hits the bridge then I have to start over from the severing tentacle part again. I always get thrown off early doesnt matter what i try. Can someone explain to me what I am doing wrong? I dont understand how on easy mode plus "disabling difficult qtes" I am still failing at that part? once the yellow bar is full when im on the kayran's tentacle do I stop clicking the mouse button or do i continue to click it through the whole qte? Any advice or opinions would be much appreciated because I am very close to just giving up on this game. Am i that bad at this game or am i missing something?

Well, don't fret- some people do have trouble with the Kayran QTEs, so it's not just you. If you're having trouble, then yes, disable QTEs and put the game on Easy mode; it would also help to restart your game after you do this.

I guess it helps to have a responsive keyboard/mouse, but I used a 360 controller and didn't have any problems. But try what I described above, and if worse comes to worst, post your save file here and I'll help you get done with it.

I had this same issue happen to me years ago on an older machine. This is a "mouse click repeatedly" QTE, which last time I checked cannot be disabled.

It is a hardware issue, the Kayran fight is one of the most hardware intensive moments of the game. In my case even on a "low spec" configuration I still could not get the QTE to activate correctly. The game simply cannot read your mouse input fast enough.

The trick is to lower the resolution to the absolute lowest for this scene, I am talking values like 320 x 240 or 400 x 300 -- whatever is supported on your computer. I found I had to keep the aspect ratio to 16:9 to minimize further the amount drawn on screen. Basically you need to decrease the strain on the hardware as much as possible so the game can read your mouse input faster.

After getting past this scene and killing the Kayran -- remember to harvest ingredients in both areas of the Kayran for yourself, save, then set your settings back to what they were before.

Hopefully that will work. This should be the only part of the game where there will be an issue, at least it was for me.

Edit: I should have noted that the Witcher 2 does not play nicely with minimum system requirements. Older and slower computers (such as my old laptop) have issues with the game. That is likely the reason for your problem.

But I'm pretty sure that you can solve the Kayran problem with your own hands. Watch this video thoroughly; it demonstrates the easiest way to handle the Kayran:

You need almost nothing - no potions, oils, no armor, no dodging/rolling - the cheapest silversword will do the job. Watch exactly where Geralt should cast Yrden: Do you see where the disco ball lands when the tentacle hits the ground? That'st the correct place.

You should be aware of these facts:

* You are confronted with three QTEs instead of one on "easy".
* No tentacle is able to hurt Geralt if you use Quen. So start with Quen and refresh it after a tentacle hits Geralt.
