I completed Witcher 1 in college in 2009 and can't remember a thing from it, and now I want to play the sequel.

I don't have that file today, but is it important to import a save file to Witcher 2, and does it change much?

PLEASE NO SPOILERS
You can start with slightly better gear, but it is very soon surpassed.
Above and that your choicies from the previous game can be present here - a gift from someone you helped or mentioning events that you made. But... it's not ground shaking - you can go however you like in W2 despite choices you made in previous game. So in my opinion - not so important, if you don't want to replay W1 and you also don't want to search for a save in the Internet.

Bethezer said it perfectly so I will just add:

Its no issue,if you really want to import a save you can go to witchernexus and find save files to import into TW2 with detailed description of what has been done in them,or you can just replay the game since it isnt that long
