Ok first off, I am LOVING this game! But....CD Projekt seems to have lied about some things, such as 1. No Loading Screens. 2. The whole " No cardboard cutouts thing " 3. Optimization.

So, First, CD Projekt was constantly saying how this game only has like 4 loading screens but, every time you walk into a building there is a loading screen. It may just be a black screen and not an actual loading screen but what's weird is that, in numerous tech demos and such, when they walked into somewhere, that black screen was not there...so why put it in the final product? It really doesn't bother me considering I really don't care about loading screens but I do feel they could have at least said that there would be more loading screens than originally stated. Second, CDP also stated that there would be no cardboard cutouts and that you would be able to explore everything. This is NOT the case. There are plenty of cardboard cutouts and you certainly cannot explore everything. This one does annoy me more because I was REALLY looking forward to exploring the world of The Witcher, and sadly I cannot. Third, the optimization. They said that this game would be able to run smoothly on a single core CPU ( Who has one of those anymore XD ) on minimal settings. Now, I have not tested this, but to be quite honested, I really don't think I have to. This game is having issues running on top of the line hardware, let alone a rig with a single core CPU. The engine is just not as scalable as they promised. I tested my laptop on absolute max settings at 1366x768 res and I was getting about 10 FPS, now, I turned down and off EVERYTHING, including the res down to 800x600, and I was getting about 30 FPS....that's only a 20 frame jump from Ultra. That's not what I call optimized. It seems the game is going down the same road it's brother did in that it seems like it chooses what rig can run it and what rig cannot, regardless of the hardware. I for one can't even play in anything but 800x600 because I get totally locked at 10 FPS, regardless of the settings, which is kind of weird, no less, no higher :/ Now all of that said, I am NOT trying to insult CDP I actually think their great and The Witcher 2 will EASILY take GOTY in my book. I just wanted to ask all of you your opinion on my dislikes of the game above. So leave a comment below! :)

P.S. Please do NOT leave ANY spoilers down below. I'm only on CH.2 so I'm not done it yet and I really don't want it ruined for me. Thanks! :)
Hmmm, I haven't noticed the house loading that much. There are other places in the world where the game suddenly starts loading new map data, sometimes it's seamless and then sometimes I get a loading screen for a good 2-3 seconds before the game resumes. I think it depends on the "luck" attribute of your computer hardware. Or maybe RAID 0 / SSD...
Because the game is streamed, people with better computers will not encounter those load screens.

it is strange that you're having such framerate issues. Do you have an ATI card? I hear there's some problems with the ATI drivers. Supposedly will be fixed tomorrow in the patch, or if not there are workarounds and ATI is working on optimizing their drivers for TW2.

There does seem to be some weirdness going on about which systems it likes, tho. It greatly dislikes systems far better than mine judging by some comments I've seen. Though RAM and processor seem more important than videocard in many ways. I myself have a nVidia 8800 GTS, which if you look at the requirements is the exact minimum required card on the nVidia side of things. After getting the newest drivers and disabling 3D vision, it runs great on mediumish settings at 1680x1050 aside from some issues with some (but not all) cutscenes. While I haven't bothered checking exact framerates, (it's smooth, that's all I care about) I was actually shocked at how well it ran considering my card is the minimum supported. I have a quad core, Windows 7, 4 gigs of RAM. I occasionally get loading screens and a noticeably decreased framerate (not unplayable, you can just notice some stutter at times) if I have stuff like Firefox running in the backgound, (if i didn't have an absurd number of tabs open it would likely be fine, though) but nothing too major, and I get virtually none if i have JUST TW2 running, especially after a reboot. So it may be as simple as disabling everything unnecessary while playing.
Fast RAM, Fast SSD 4 cores and good video will make this game purr.

Runs ok on my machine (once I found a thread that fixed my fogging issue... ATI CCC)... metts the recommended specs.

My only real complaint so far is the annoying random CTD's.... spamming F5 alleviates the frustration of having to repeat the last 1/2 hr, but having to restart the game constantly is kind of annoying.

Please fix this CDPR... and patch W1 with same fix while you're at it please?
I'm probably up to about 80 hours, and I've only had one CTD/hang that I had to restart for. Are you overheating?

It's possible.... be the GPU if it is. Running at medium settings. No error messages or bluescreens, no "Application has performed an illegal operation and will go to jail for eternity" etc....

Maybe I need a better PC full stop.... wonder if I can get it past the boss? lol
