I've only just started the game and I've noticed I'm getting stutters during the introduction battle. CPU and GPU usage are both around 40-50% on ultra settings (no ubersampling) but I still see judders in the framerate.

Any ideas?
Been doing some more testing and I'm getting framerate issues just standing by the tent in the starting scene...there's nothing happening on screen, GPU usage is 20% and yet it's a stutterfest.

The thing is, it ran exactly like this on my last pc, which was five years old. Currently I've got a 4790 i7 @ 4.4ghz and a 980 GTX, SSD, 16GB RAM.

No driver settings seem to affect it, or detail settings in game, I'm pretty stumped :(

Weird, I have the same proc and video card and am running at 2560x1440 with no problems. I also have a high res texture pack and have some thing that draws a ton of extra grass. What driver version do you have? I'm using 361.43. Also do you have "Ubersampling" enabled in the options? I did at first and it killed my performance. Disabled it and things are great. Did you try the nvidia GeForce experience app thing and let it optimize your settings? Also, I'm guessing it's not a problem, but is your CPU utilization rate high or is it also fairly normal?

Turns out that it was framerate stutter, forcing Vsync in the Nvidia control panel fixed it :)
