Hi everyone !

Sorry to make a new topic but I'm hoping to get this noticed so it can be added to the forum sticky.

Yet more edits : beta drivers 275.27 fixed the problem for me, performance is OK on ultra (with uberSampling off) even with the 3DVision component installed.

Further edit : it appears the issue is not with the driver version but solely with the 3DVision driver. If you're having performance issues with an nvidia GPU, try reinstalling your current drivers WITHOUT the 3DVision component.

For anyone having extremely poor performance with nvidia GPUs, try rolling back the latest drivers (270.61) to the previous WHQL release (266.58).

Edited to add : I also removed the 3DVision drivers while reinstalling 266.58; that might be important, as per comments on the thread linked below.

This fixed the issue for me.

I was having slideshow level performance, even on medium settings, on a core i7 2600K, GTX580, 8Gb RAM, Win7 64-bit).
I can now run the game with all settings on ultra*

(*expect uberSampling : haven't bothered restarting the game yet to try it, I want to get some playtime in on my day off and I've wasted enough time getting the game to run on ultra :p)

This is apparently a known issue with the 270.61 drivers, an update should be pending (source : http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=200281&st=0 )

Do you have the 3DVision drivers installed ? I don't know why it works for some and not others but rolling back and removing 3DVision definitely helped for me.

Before: (eyeballed, didn't have fraps installed yet)
with uberSampling : less than 10fps
without : less 30fps

After: (with FRAPS)
with uberSampling : 25-30
without : 60-70

I can confirm that the problem is indeed with the 3D Vision driver. It doesnt seem related to the actual driver version itself. I did a clean reinstall of the 270 driver, and opted not to install the 3D vision components and the difference is night and day.

Before I was getting pitiful FPS, and now it is silky smooth.

Also, I'd like to note that this is one of the numerous issues I've had with Nvidia drivers lately. Dragon Age 2 was a nightmare to get working right. They have really fumbled the ball recently in regards to not only keeping their drivers up to date, but also with just keeping them from actually working against the games in general.

Good luck everyone, hope this fixes your Nvidia poor performance issues as well, and enjoy the game!

Thanks for the confirmation ! I'll edit my original post again to reflect this information.
No problem at all, happy to help. I know how infuriating these launch-day issues can be.

Another thing I would like to point out to people is that I ran into a situation (before refreshing my drivers, so the two may be related) where I was unable to pass through a corridor in the city which prevented my progression to another area. It was just boarded up, but after a few minutes of looking aimlessly for something to click I decided to save and fix the poor video problems. When I reloaded (after refreshing drivers and subsequent reboots for that process) it was opened up as it should have been.

So if you feel like you've hit a dead-end incorrectly, quicksave, exit, and reload. YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary), but it worked for me.

EDIT: I just ran into the same 'boarded up doorway' issue again, so it is unrelated to the driver/video issue. I have no idea why this is happening, it is very odd. I didnt have to exit the entire game to fix it though, just a quicksave and reload did the trick.

The only other weird issue I've run into is being unable to register the game because my keyboard presses dont have any effect when trying to type in my new account creation info, but that isnt something I'm really stressing about at the moment, it is just strange.

Thank you ^^

Removing the 3d drivers made all the difference in the world.
Just removed an reinstalled the latest drivers without the 3D drivers and it's working like a charm now.

Went from 10FPS on my 285GTX to around 30 min 45 avg.
Try the 275.27 beta driver! ;)

Before rolling back in drivers, did you attempt to just remove the 3D drivers? While I understand that rolling back can be beneficial in some situations, it may not be warranted in this one.

/2cents
This seems like an OK temporary fix...unless you actually use 3D, like me. Isn't this game supposed to be 3D Vision Ready according to Nvidia? This is pretty disappointing if it's not only 3D ready but I have to stop playing all my other games in 3D just to enjoy this one.
Just for confirmation, can I just uninstall the 3D Vision drivers for 270.61, or do I have to remove *everything* and then reinstall, leaving out the 3D Vision?
