Don't like it when I can loot freely in everyone houses, and those silly npcs keep saying "Welcome"!:(

How stupid is that? Somehow they're breaking the serious atmosphere of the game...
Those mindless npcs are such a redundant in this game. It'd better if they have been kept slience instead of saying some useless mumbles.

I think the Gothic series were doing a much better job with this issue.

yes i thought that way too when playing the first game. like geralt was a thief and nobody in the village cared. stupid gameplay idea.
It has been like that since the first edition. Maybe because there are no or less feedback from customers about that issue.
You should play Risen. If you grab a beer off a table, everyone in town is ready to gut you.

If I lived in a society without phones and a crazy-looking albino with a ponytail, cat-eyes, and two long swords burst into my home uninvited, covered in blood, and started taking my stuff... well, I'd probably try to be as nice as possible so as to not end up hanging from said swords.

Just saying :)

You know the funny thing: they actually announced "no more stealing and robbing people's houses" as a feature (some dev diary, I think, but don't hold me to that). I get the impression, they cut out a lot of features they wanted to implement - if for time constraint reasons or because they couldn't get it to work properly, we will most probably never know.

I admit that I like taking stuff, after all I need supplies for saving their sore asses, right? Or trying to, anyway. But it still feels wrong to openly take everything, when there are not even thief abilities, like for example in the Gothic series.
This has always amused me in RPGs, very few seem to have any punishment for wondering into peoples homes and taking everything that isn't nailed down.

I spent my entire first playthrough not stealing stuff in front of people because i thought they might catch me or something...didn't realize there is no such thing as a thief in the witchers world.
Yeah, gotta kinda agree. IIRC, in Fallout 3 and NV, I think you could loot most houses, rooms, ect., if no one saw you do it. If you did get caught in places you were not supposed to, you were called a thief and attacked. Something along those lines would at least be a bit more realistic in the Witcher games for sure.

It is not bad. You enter ghetto (mostly) houses, and relief them of their junk. Shit is like warehouses, poorly disguised as residencies. Not a bad deal. In real life, just so you know, there are people going around houses, asking to get paid for relieving you off your junk. You pay them to take your useless items. Poor Geralt still does it free...
