So far we have been assuming that the developers will make W3 because of the cliff hangers and our attachment to the game (at least that is true in my case). But there hasn't been a single official announcement regarding the progress or release of W3. And no, a bit of a sword or "secret message" doesn't count as confirmation of Witcher 3 being made for release- the sword and secret message could be related to some lame multiplayer game set in the Witcher universe, but not Witcher 3 (yes, I think that would be lame, please don't bother arguing, not the issue).

Am I missing something? Why hasn't there been an explicit announcement for Witcher 3 release? I am not looking forward to the rumored Feb 5th reveal :/

Edit: Have no fear good folk! Witcher 3 is on its way! By melitele's tits, be merry and rejoice!! *ahem* But most of all let's try to be patient because we want it to be as awesome as possible :)

I sincerely hope that besides caves, ruins and such desolate places we also get to experience lively and bustling places, like a metropolis.

Part of the secret message in the Cyberpunk 2077 teaser:

"And that’s not all that’s new. We are about the reveal our other project which is much closer to being completed and yes, it will also be a fully open-world game with an intense story. You can probably guess the game we’re talking about."

They don't just announce things outright. I mean, everything's always all secretive and big with them. That's just how CDPR is, one of those truths of the universe like Valve time and EA being evil. That's a pretty huge hint by any measure, though.

Well okay, but I am going to assume the worst till I buy my copy of W3 haha. Dramatics aside, you're right- that's a good hint.

Unofficial sources say Witcher 3 is planned for late 2014 at the earliest, so no I am not bothered by a lack of an official announcement personally.
