As a homosexual gamer, I was disappointed by the lack of homosexuality in the game. If BioWare can offer homosexuality in their games, why can't CD Projekt? Why can't Geralt start a romantic relationship with Roche or Iorveth? Why are there no male prostitutes? Why is it that Geralt can't have sex with elven men? Why can't we turn Geralt "gay"? Isn't choice part of being an RPG game?

CD Projekt, it's about time that we be a little more inclusive and acknowledge that homosexuals and bisexuals want their options, too.

Um, sorry to break it to ya, but the game's based on already existing literature.

CDPR can't just 'invent' scenarios to appeal to it's audience--something that Bioware can do.

Maybe Geralt isn't gay?

In a Bioware RPG, you are effectively the main character. In the Witcher games, you influence Geralt's decisions, but he is still the main character, not you. Geralt, as a character (as far as I know) is a heterosexual, so those are your choices.

EDIT: Also

*spoilers*

Dethmold is gay. You might have to take the Roache path to see him about to rape his man slave before you rescue him.

Are you for real?

Geralt is straight. Including a new gay character would be fine, but changing established characters and their personalities for fan service is a joke.

Did I just get trolled? It feels like I just got trolled.

I know, but it's clear that CD Projekt is merely extending the universe. Although I have not read the books, the fact that Geralt doesn't have sex with other males doesn't necessarily mean that he isn't bisexual. People could change, you know.

That's called retconning, and it ruins stories. It's also a form of fanservice, which is also annoying for people who just want things to go the way the story is and was obviously meant to go.

You have no idea the backlash such a huge change to his character would cause, though.

For the record, Phillipa is bisexual, and seems to lean toward lesbian so it's not like there are no gay characters.

Okay, describe me a passage from the books where Geralt adamantly claims he's straight. If there is no such passage, then the possibility that Geralt could be bisexual can not be discounted.

I understand what you're saying, but changing a character's development for the sake of 'political correctness' isn't really an appropriate justification.

While you're at it, why not question where all the black people are? Or Asians? I mean, midgets (dwarves) get representations, so why don't indians?

My point is, when you enter a world you accept it for what it is. Bioware includes different shades of sexuality and different races because they want the gamer to relate to different characters. I would argue though that worlds don't always need to be 'relatable' to be 'immersive'.

Geralt's preferences is ladies, sorry. Triss used to be Philippa's lover so we do have a bi character in the game. And Philippa is a lesbian and therefore unavailable. So the game doesn't lack homosexuality, it lacks gay characters. Yah, that's a valid complaint I suppose...

Edit: Oh, Dethmold is gay? Haven't reached that part in my second playthru yet...

Yeah, we have examples of homosexual characters both male and female. The only thing we're missing is a homosexual sex scene involving geralt, which is needless, because this is a video game, not a porno.
I myself is glad they stand true to the book and don´t rewrite the backstory.

If someone cant stand the main character in a game no being 100% relatable to themselves they sure must have an extremely adventurous personality having played through those other games where the main character is more or less a mercenary...

So please, take the game for what it is, a game set in a particular world. A world not at all nice to people sticking out.

If it makes the game more relatable to you then by all means imagine Geralt as someone who hides his true sexuality by flirting with tons of women.
Maybe we should complain that a game that is trying to be as booklike as possible (is that even a word?) doesn't have a homosexual geralt.
At least we have women/dragon that has a thing for dwarfs and you can't honestly know female dwarf from female, so everything is possible.

MagnusCaligula: disgusting. go play a gay game like dragon age 2 you troll
Homosexuality is not "disgusting," as you put it. It is the way I choose to live my life.

The medieval tendencies of certain people in this society are sickening.
