I really hate it when corpses disappear in the game. Its a huge immersion braker. I havent been able to try altering the xml file because I cant make it appear so could someone please tell me if theres another way to prevent corpses from disappearing or could someone make a mod to prevent it?

Also I know that it might cause problems if the corpses dont disappear but I'll gladly take problems rather than disappearing corpses. If it makes the game unplayable then maybe they could be made to disappear over some time.

I don't really care wether they disappear or not, but at least they could do it when I look away :P

It would be nice if we could limit the number of corpses in the region that don't disappear, but I don't think it's doable.

Just imagine that when someone dies his corpse "vaporize".. just like that..after all it's not the real life :P
It would be nice to increase the time so they don't disappear for 10 minutes or whatever.

The thing I love maybe the most in rpgs is the immersion. Corpses disappearing stupidly brake that.They could also create an excellent atmosphere especially in big battles like the on in vergen so its a lot of wasted potential. I dont really care if causes some lag or anything. The atmosphere will make up for that. Doesnt matter if the corpses disapper after a coupl dozen minutes.

Digging the paradoxic thread title. Most every game out there has this, if not every single one.
It's probably possible with modding..if not now, then when the editor is released.
Threads like this are important. They show what people care about, even if it's a small number of people. I'm in the middle: corpses have to vanish or they'll kill performance, but I find it quite stupid that they vanish before your very eyes. Dissolve into smoke, disappear when you leave the area, disappear only when there are too many (configurable by the user, perhaps; many games *do* let you determine how many corpses you want visible).

Huge numbers of corpses would likely lead to fps hits, but disappearing after 2 seconds is ridiculous, esp since it makes looting the remains a pita. Should take at least a few minutes or when you leave the vicinity or something.

When Nekkers disappear, the rib cage is left if you haven't looted it. There always seems to be something left if you haven't looted it and it has loot.

I dont care about looting them. I just want the corpses to stay for the sake of immersion.
Also if anyone knows how to access the game xml file please let me know. Ive tried unpacking pack0.dzip but I didnt find it there.

Which XML file are you looking for? There are tons of them in this game. The entire data backbone is built on XML files.

A file named game.xml. I should be able to alter the corpse disappearance time there.
This is a little quibble of mine too.

I wondered if I was the only one - I wouldn't mind leaving a strew of bodies on the ground sometimes. I realize that would probably incur a huge performance hit (and God knows some people are already having issues with that) but I'd like there to be an option to either turn it on or off. Again, I know it would be one more thing to fiddle with and explain that a large amount of bodies = lag, but...immersion!
