Not this again. This is old news. They are just trolls or delusional Bioware fans. I doubt it was employees. And Witcher 2 still stayed around a 9 even with those bad reviews. DA2's score still stayed around 4.
That is just so sad.

Even before DA2 stirred up so much animosity on their forums, I thought the devs and moderators over there came off as rather odd and insecure. I like their games very much, but a strange paranoia has taken hold of some Bioware folks.

i dont remember seeing this before. i just thought it was really F'd up.
Actually I think this kind of thing reflects poorly on Metacritic as well.

One, for making it possible for people to post multiple reviews for the same game, and secondly for an apparent lack of moderation.

Given these matters, Metacritic have, in my view, credibility issues.

Somewhat off topic, but on the subject of 'Bioware vs CDPR', i'd prefer compared rather than vs, as it's not a contest of any kind.

Nevertheless, like many others I'm not entirely happy with a number of design decisions CDPR have made with TW2, (given that it was marketed as a PC release).

They have tried to make a reasonable effort to balance out the inclusion of console oriented features in the game without affecting PC playability greatly.

Nevertheless it still makes TW2 more of a PC / Console hybrid in my book.

Bioware on the other hand, in at least one interview I've read regarding DA2*, one of the games designers made no apologies for the fact that the game was developed primarily if not solely with consoles in mind.

Yet, they seem not to 'get it' when PC gamers criticise, constructively or otherwise, DA2.

At least CDPR a small time developer by comparison, (to Bioware), are making an effort to rectify some of the concerns PC gamers have regarding the 'PC' version of TW2.

Cheers

*at time of typing I tried to relocate the interview with Bioware designer, so I could post a link here. I'll keep searching.

Trolls will be trolls, man.

The huge number of perfect 10 scores that came about in retaliation probably drowned those out entirely, too. Lesson to be learned from this all: user reviews are pointless, because users are idiot trolls who are incapable of liking two things at once.
Since when did Bioware start paying The Escapist for reviews? Metacritic is a joke.
I'm weary of numerical scores to begin with, but when a professional reviewer gives a game I'm interested in a 5 or a 10 he's making a pretty clear statement about how much he thinks I'll enjoy the game - and if he's any good he'll back up his score in his arguments. It's understood going in that his tastes are different than mine and different than everyone elses - so if he's good at reviewing games he'll do his best to describe aspects of the game he didn't like in an objective way before he gets to his opinion so that readers can try to make a decision based on their own personal tastes.

imo, the numerical score is almost completely useless without a written review. Amassing and averaging user scores is even more useless, imo: your 10 is my 5/ my 2 is your 8/ her 6 is my 10, etc. And on top of that we have fanboys - herds of morons roaming the Internet to join with one another in self gratifying unity and do their best to stuff their opinions down the throats of others. This kind of team thinking leads to the most obnoxious and deleterious zealotry: "This game is perfect! It's not a COD clone and you like COD so you're stupid! [Or] you don't like COD so you're stupid! [Or] you play shooters so you can't understand RPGs! [Or] console kittehs! [Or] PC elitists! [Or] EA is the devil! [Or] Bioware vs. CDPr you must pick a side!"

Does anyone think the user scores on metacritic are worth anything more than dog shit? Even though I'm sure there are decent users out there who are honest and fair it seems likely that most scores are posted by users who are motivated to boost their favorite game's score and obliterate the scores of games they dislike for whatever reason. And even if all the morons cancel eachother out - you're still left with a number that means almost nothing and you've got to go to your favorite review for some actual information anyway... or dig through the pile to see if you can find a user who isn't a troll...

i guess i shouldve put the title as something else. i was trying to point out that employees of a co would actually do this. its not really which was better or how they were developed (pc or console).

ive never played da2. i played da:o, but never finished. just lost interest halfway through. i did finish W1 and im almost through act 2 of W2.

I wasn't deriding you with my comment about fanboy mentality, FYI. I wasn't under the impression that you were trolling or trying to start a flame war... although that's what I thought your post was by the title. XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Just thought I'd be clear about that because I know how belligerent people sometimes are on the Internet.
This isn't old at all to me, I'd never think that an employee would have the time or the lack of ethical conviction to do a thing of this sort.

Never the less, CDP is just a small fish in a very large pond and Bioware is a big fish in this pond. However the quality of product from CDP speaks for itself. With the budget and personnel CDP was encompassed Witcher 2 is quite a feat. I digres that this is a witcher 2 forum so I'm sure that certain subjects are taboo and biased at best.

I thoroughly enjoyed Mass effect 2 and thought it was one of the best games, however comparing Mass effect 2 to witcher 2 is absurd, they are so different on so many levels. The post above was news to me but what is not new to me is the trashing of W2 in MA2 forums. Some fanboys made it abundantly clear that if it isn't bioware is shovel ware. In my opinion DA2 is an inferior game to DA, most gamers would agree thusly many a comparisons I've seen in bioware forum territory are actually of MA2 vs. W2.

Any intelligent individual would be keenly aware the the point of games is enjoyment, although brand loyalty has its place, credit must be given where credit is due, and I sincerely hope that the employee who wrote that review should should give a meta critic score of himself and write an honest review.

BTW a good game to me aside from the usual aspects is that when its finished do would you immediately want to play it over again without feeling like its a chore? When I finished the Witcher 1 I felt the impulse to begin a new albeit on a harder difficulty just to see what would happen if you sided with the squirrels, since that choice has epic consequences.
Bioware got exactly what it deserved because they changed DA2 TOO much from the PC oriented game play to console driven game play and i think it is absolutey fantastic that DA2 is selling as poorly as it is. Trash should not be supported regardless of the name on the box. Consolized trash sucking any creativity and life out of gaming to fill the coffers of a mega conclomerates at the expense of anything that is different. You forget your core audience, the most forgiving of fans, break the faith with your fans by shiting out such consolized trash as DA2 and well you get what you deserve the real question is did they learn anything? Only DA3 will tell.

CDPR there is a lesson in there are you smart enough to find it?

Asai
This rivarly is just a fantasy. GoG just made a deal with EA for their back catalogue, those 2 companies are fine with each other, some of the more rabid fans on either side are being a bit juvenile thats all.
The tactics some Bioware employees have employed since the release of DA 2 have been atrocious. One was caught giving reviews for DA 2. Nice...

To me, however, there is no comparison between the two companies. CD Projekt has proven they listen to their customers' input, and support their customers and products diligently (Enhanced Edition, the patches that have come out so fast for TW 2, etc.) while Bioware has proven the exact opposite, especially in light of Laidlaw's interviews. Even in a recent thread on Bioware's forums in which he addressed some concerns, he maintained that Bioware would continue on its current path of DA 2 with any expansions. It came off as a case of: "I know best and the customer knows nothing."

At any rate, the thing that's happening with Bioware is something we've all seen before when EA buys a smaller studio...they run it into the ground after they've bled the cash cow all they could while all the time offering inferiour products. Westwood Studios ring a bell?
