Are you running the installer as administrator? That could help. Otherwise, I would guess that re-downloading might help. Sometimes the bigger games get corrupted when downloading, and I think the Witcher might be the biggest game on GOG.

Yep, running as admin, and it doesn't look like a corrupt download because the internal consistency check that is performed by the GOG installer doesn't say anything about any error (I had corrupt downloads a couple times before and they all bailed out on the consistency check)

kk, it looks like the problem was the absence of a spare gigabyte or so on the drive C at the moment of installation (even though I opted to install the game on E). Anyone who is having problems with this, be aware that even though you can choose to install to any drive you want, you still want to have at least a gigabyte available on your system drive for the taking by the game (and obviously more to have free space available on the system drive).

Where are you installing to? You might want to avoid the Program Files directory as it has extra protections under Windows 7 that might prevent the files from copying correctly.

Theoretically running as administrator bypasses this, but it might be worth trying anyway.

From the error it looks like you might be installing to one of these protected directories... are you actually installing to "Users\Public\Documents"?

Nope, as I added to my previous message, I actually opted to install to a completely different drive and folder (E:\Games\The Witcher), but the game still wanted to take something about a gigabyte on drive C and copy its module files to "Users\Public\Documents". I'm not sure what the reason for that is, but that's what prevented me from installing - I didn't have enough space on the drive where "Users\Public\Documents" was actually located. I freed 2 GB on that drive and it installed successfully - so basically, one has to be aware of the fact that the game installs something to C: (or whatever the syetem drive is) anyway, no matter where you choose to install the game, and that something is at least 700 MB or so as far as I can tell.

I had that issue too. The problem is that i had The Witcher previously installed and the modules (.adv) files are set to read only. I deleted The Witcher folder from C:\Users\Public\Documents and the game installed fine after that.

It would have been nice if the GOG installer warned about the free space on the system drive of course (cause it might come as unexpected provided that the installer allows installation to any drive and it only lists requirements for the drive one is installing to - so, even if the system drive has 300 MB of space remaining and you install on another drive which has, say, 20 GB, the installer will try to install (and will fail), assuming that the space is enough... :\

If you get more than about a hundred saves or so, the game will freeze/crash when you open the save/load menu due to overflow stuff. So you really should be manually deleting them periodically anyway.

Speaking of deleting saves, is there a faster way to do it than from the in-game save menu? I have racked up a lot of saves so it now takes a while to load the whole list when I want to load a game. But it also takes a long time to delete them one by one in the menu.

You can delete it them manually from My Documents/The Witcher/Saves.

Hey, everyone. I am pretty new to GOG but I need some help. I have over 15 games in my library and have never experienced any difficulties playing any of them until I purchased and downloaded The Witcher Enhanced Edition. It downloaded normally and everything but when I started up the game, it pulled up the Basic Title box and I clicked on Launch Game. Everytime that I do this it states thet the Minimum System requirements have not been met. This is a newish laptop and has gobs of free memory. I have no clue why this is happening.

This is a common problem. Try making a shortcut of the .exe, then open the shortcut's Properties, and add
"-dontForceMinReqs" without the quotes at the end of the Target line. Leave a space, so that it looks like ...System\witcher.exe" -dontForceMinReqs
That should solve it. Now if only I could fix the black menu error...

I got The witcher game. I installed the game and trying to play the game. but i got a error from another language. Can you please help me to how to install game correctly? when i go to Launcher i got a error saying (Unable to write to C:\Program files (x86)\R.G. Perplexing - uninstalled and reloaded -

Note the first time it did it there was no indication the Anti-Virus was blocking.

Solution - turned off anti virus and load voice files directly from CDProject website.

Voices work now.
