I am running The Witcher on Mac OSX 10.9.4

I had just installed the game and characters are either completely invisible or have only their eyeballs or teeth showing with no face or body. Anyone know how to fix this?

Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel Iris
Software OS X 10.9.4

**(08/18/14) Update: gog.com technical support replied to my e-mail about this graphical issue and suggested the following:

Hi, Please open the Applications folder, open the Terminal.app type in:

sudo open

that is "sudo open " without the quotes.
Do not press Enter, drag the game's app from the Applications folder to the terminal, this should add the correct path, press Enter now, you should receive a prompt to enter your password.
Please let me know if this helps.

If not, I would strongly recommend getting in touch with the official Witcher support. If you can do that, please let me know if they're able to help.

**This did not work for me, so I contacted cdprojecktred.com for support. I will update once I get a reply from them. If this has or hasn't worked for you or you found a different solution, please let me know. Thanks.

Had the same issue and didn't help.

Macbook Air 13in, Early 2014
1.7 GHz Intel Core i7
8gb 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 5000
OS X 10.9.4

Hope there is a fix soon since the game runs fine besides this issue for me.

Same here. I still have yet to receive a response from the official Witcher support team. I will keep this forum updated once I do.

Same here but there are no in-game cutscenes for me. Just a blank black screen with sound and subtitles.

I was able to correct the problem. I had to change the Wine engine the game shipped and tweaking the screen options.

Follow this guide to get Wineskin and be able to change the Wine version. Download engine version 1.6.2.

(I can't post links, so copy&paste the URL)

Use engine version 1.6.2. Version 1.7.24 doesn't work for me.

Also, in Wineskin, on Screen Options, unchecked the "Auto Detect GPU Info for Direct3D" option.

Hope this helps.

It worked for me as well. Thank you so much for posting this!

*In Wineskin, under Screen Options, I checked "Automatic" instead of "Override" in the "Override Wine control of Screen Settings?" box. Having "Override" checked gave me a black screen with only sound.

Has you game been crashing occasionally?

No, just the transparent characters, some black textures, and the worst problem, after every loading screen the game get stuck with the last image the 3D engine rendered before the loading screen.

I haven't ran into any of those problems, yet, lol. My game would crash occasionally and say there is a deficiency with wine. I was planning on using a different wine engine other than 1.6.2 to see if that makes any difference. If I see any improvements, I'll update.

At least with Wine 1.6.2, I don't get any graphic errors, and I don't have any crash yet, but my graphic card is not exactly the same (Iris vs Intel HD 5000).

In Wineskin, click the Test button to run the game, and try to crash it. When the game crashes Wineskin will ask you to print the log, maybe we could see something.

Wine writes a lot in the log, jump to the end to see the crash.

I changed my wineskin engine to WS9Wine1.7.23 after starting from the latest engine (WS91.7.24) and working my way down until I found the one that didn't give me any issues. So yay! :)
