Ivanneth15: Hello everyone. As this topic has no solution for the problem I have decided to share what worked for me.

TIL: hidden file 2da00.bif is making the game crash. After making it visible the game works.

After getting my hands on different (working) version of the game I started comparing both and after some time I found what was causing the error (at least in my case).

For some reason the file 2da00.bif is hidden cousing game not to lunch without showing errors.

So go to your game directory and find the folder with The Witcher. Then go to Data (The Witcher Enhanced Edition\Data).
In the Explorer go to View and check Show hidden files
You should now be able to see a file named 2da00.bif . Select it, click the right button on your mouse and go to "Properties", uncheck "Hidden" box, click "OK" and see if the game runs now. It did for me.
