That simple, I'd enjoy this game a lot more if I could play it more like a Baldur's Gate or Dragon Age, just working around what skills to use and positioning, than the odd rythm minigame style of combat this game has. Any mods that do that?

It's not that type of game, might as well accept it the way it was suppose to be played. By the end it plays a lot better then both of those games.

I guess, I already jumped to Witcher 2 cause I couldn't stand the combat anymore, too monotonous. Guess I'll never actually beat Witcher 1.

Really? if anything the Witcher 2 is waaay more monotonous. Dodge slash, dodge slash, dodge slash... only difference is that Witcher 2 combat is trendy because of the Batman games.

If anything the original combat has 3 varieties for silver and steel. You unlock multiple moves as the game progresses and some seriously seriously cool animations. So ditch that overrated sequel and get your head stuck into the first game. It isn't some kiddy hand holding console game like the sequel is. It's made to be unique and it does just that very well.

It sounds like it should be more monotonous in Witcher 2, but the whole "timing the click at the right time" while doing nothing in 1 else turns my brain off if I do it too many times in a row. I noticed I would play worse the more a fight in Witcher 1 went. Yeah, Witcher 2's spectacle combat should be more boring, but it doesn't let me stop paying attention, so I end up having more fun cause atleast I feel like I'm doing stuff.
