Well, like Lawson51 I'm also having problems getting the clear data to transfer over, but unlike him I did download both games from GoG.

Frankly this problem is not helped by my largely being clueless about how computers actually work. I don't know just what the file names I'm looking for even are. Please keep that in mind when responding to this question, you're going to have to go step by step here.

You shouldn't have to do anything if both games are installed since SC will look in FC's default save path.

Should be in: "C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Saved Games\FALCOM\ED6" for FC.

Also it could be in: "C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Application Data\FALCOM\ED6"

Tried looking there, and the folder just doesn't exist. So I tried booting up the game itself, and for some reason it appears all of my saves are gone.

Apparently I'm just wasting everybody's time here then. Sorry about that.
Does FC see your save? If this is the case just start a new game from SC.

"Start" and not "Load".

It will ask you if you want to use the cleared data from FC.

Nokusu: Does FC see your save?
It does not. Apparently everything is gone. While I'm a bit disappointed i'm not going to be able to transfer the data over this won't stop me from enjoying SC.
Did you perchance update to Windows 10 in the meantime?
I've downloaded both chapters from GoG and SC doesn't offer to load save data. It gets even more curious, as when I try to run FC, it just doesn't start at all. No error messages, no nothing. My FC savegames still exist. And that's not all - when I decided to try to install the latest FC patch, the installer tells me "This patch does not support your version of the game, please download a new installer"

Any help? I'd like to get both FC and FC saves working. The first suspect is that I just recently upgraded to Windows 10. Might have something to do with it.
Are you finding the save folder? In the default GOG installation:

C:\GOG Games\The Legend of Heroes - Trails in the Sky Second Chapter\

There should be a program called config2.exe. You can run this and at the bottom of the window there is a "save folder" button. Click this and it will take you to where your second chapter saves should be. Your first chapter saves should be in the parent folder (one folder up), under the name ED6.

After opening the save folder using the config file button "save folder," you should see a list of folders at the top of the window. It should say something like

USER (your username on your pc)\FALCOM\ED-SORA2

If you click the Faclom folder in the address bar it should take you to wherever your FC saves are in the folder ED6. If there is nothing in there, then you can find a full savefile on the GOG forums here:

http://www.gog.com/forum/the_legend_of_heroes_trails_in_the_sky_series/trails_in_the_sky_ng_files

If there is no ED6 folder, just go ahead and create one and unzip that save into the folder.

Then start a new game and you should get the correct prompts.

Sorry to hear your saves have disappeared. Best of luck!
I just verified the savegame folder. Gone. Empty. All my FC saves are gone. And that just happens to be one of the folders I didn't back up before doing the Windows 10 upgrade >_< Thanks a lot, Microsoft.

I don't suppose they're still copied somewhere in a backup directory for the win8 rollback process?
Okay, phew. FOUND THEM! That gave me a scare. I suspect it might have something to do with my game being saved on the D: drive. Anyway, the directory where they were in (and where it was being looked for) previously was:

C:\Users\xxx\Application Data\FALCOM\ED6

That folder was empty. Fortunately, I did find them under:

C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\FALCOM\ED6

Copied them over, and now it asks me to load the savegame data upon starting SC. What a scare. For those of you who have done the Win10 upgrade, and are having problems, try to find your savegames in the directory I mentioned and copy them over.

FC still doesn't work though, but that's another story... will look at that another time.
