Charon121: I'm planning to start playing this soon, but this talk of a delayed patch has me worried. Is there some game-breaking bug? Should I wait for the patch before starting a new game?
avatar
DrKat: The game is entirely playable in its current state. It's just that the improvements the patches bring are nice.
Thanks for the info. Ah well, I can live without what was announced in the changelog. But I hope the GOG version will be updated soon nevertheless.

Should happen at the beginning of the week.
XSEED submitted the build but seems like it has to be manually approved by GOG, so that means nothing gets through on weekends (kinda odd for an online game company though).
And so, Monday goes away without any information. Fun.

The worst thing is that the developers are really active on the Steam forums, answering comments in the post with the patch 1.2.1 changelog (yeah, the second patch that was released yesterday), and here, nothing, total silence. I'm very tempted to refund the game.

The Galaxy backend allows for the devs to push Galaxy builds themselves similar to Steam. GOG started rolling that out to developers some months after In-Dev became a thing here on GOG. Offline installers & patches still need to wait for the normal GOG packaging team work on them.
Given that Trails of Cold Steel is a new game with Galaxy "features" I would think GOG would have mentioned this to XSEED. Then again one of the earlier In-Dev projects had to go ask GOG for access to this so who knows. Also, I don't know if the newer system would speed up full build uploads or not.

I'll ask for a refund if 1.2.1 is not out in GOG this week.
Also I mentioned that in the ticket that has been open for 7 days already without anything posted except 2 days ago a "We are looking into it.

Well, in this case if normal messaging doesn't work, then money will talk. Maybe if they get a decent amount of refunds will start seeing something is really wrong with their system.
I give up, after crossing e-mails with the developer I've opted going for a refund.

I would've do that in a heartbeat, but I bought the game cheaper than Steam because of regional pricing so I'm going to have to wait.

It was my main reason for going with GOG, but they can keep their 4.10EUR. Chances are they are going to abandon updating this game like they did with Trails of the Sky. Just reading the last posts in the thread makes you both sad and angry.

Next time I'll go Humble and ask for a Steam key option instead of the DRM-free.

In my case the price difference is of 18 Dollars so it's the unpatched game or nothing.

I wish you luck, is like we are second-class citizens no matter what.
Either by overcharging us or not giving us timely updates.

Fun thing is that I still haven't received a reply to the tickets I have... such a shit show.
Well, well. What do you know, they finally decided to get a move on. The patch is out and we even have the privilege of going straight to version 1.2.

It still says 1.0.6 here, also I bet is 1.2 and not 1.2.1

It would seem that 1.0.64... is GOG's own build name for patch 1.2.
And you are correct, it is 1.2 and not 1.2.1.

Seems like you need GOG Galaxy to update 1.2 right now (Really so long to force the client on us to update?)

Also great, we get an old patch.

Edit 2: So much for incremental updates, the patch is 3.2GB big? lol
