While I can start the SC with GOG galaxy without any problems, I want to play it on a laptop without using Galaxy.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to start the game from the executable and believe me I have tried all the possible and impossible configurations in the min setup that pops up when first clicking it.

After, it appears a small loading sign and nothing. the game doesn't starts.

Is there anything I can do ? and fix I can apply ?

thank you

darthgrimm:
Did you try to download 'normal' instaler for the game? It should be in 'Extras' in the game page on Galaxy.
I downloaded the game without galaxy being installed on my laptop and installed the game like I did with a hundred others. Unfortunately this one doesn't work :(
This is strange... Have you contacted GOG Tech. Support? I know sometimes you have to wait for a replay, but it is one ways to get things fixed. Maybe it's something that, in current verions, just bugs out? So I would recommend sending them a mail while still looking on this topic.

Just checking... before you launch and you use the config, are you being sure to save the config file?

For the loading screen, do you mean the game actually launches and you see a screen before it crashes, or are you talking about a load window?

If it's the former, you may have a codec conflict with the video that runs when the game first starts.

I can save the config file. If i deleted it, when i start the game its being saved again, with my specifications.

regarding your second question, the game doesn't launch at all, I see jut the windows cursor becoming a circle, for a while, and than nothing.

I don't understand how can i have a conflict, I only have VLC Media player installed on the laptop. ( other than the Windows Media player which is by default).

I'm wondering if the problem you're having with SC is similar to the problem that FC has gained since the patch - it refuses to start without Galaxy on the computer. Starts fine without Galaxy running as long as Galaxy is on the system.

Does your Trails SC folder have a Galaxy.dll in it?
It makes sense that it wouldn't - no point including it in the standalone installer, but I just found that FC refuses to start without Galaxy.dll in the folder so I'm wondering if this is why SC is refusing to start for you.

New FC installer starts just fine without having Galaxy ever installed.

Interesting, because a couple of people have reported that it wouldn't start until they installed Galaxy.
Now I have no idea what to make of that fact.

One thing I've seen people report with other games is that if there is an old Galaxy install laying around, including pre-alpha bits from AvP/etc, the game would crash on start. Installing the latest version of Galaxy then fixed it. Even uninstalling Galaxy afterward still allows it to run. One person successfully manually removed the leftover bits, without installing the latest version, and their game started.

That makes a lot of sense, the game must find the non-functional leftover bits and try to integrate with them.
download game from the GOG website directly;
not from the galaxy;
if so, you can get pure installer without the galaxy;
and then, you can run the game without galaxy;
by the way;
I have no install the galaxy platform;
because in China;
the galaxy platform is a garbage;
It useless;
It can't download any games you bought;

Are you sure that's not to do with your government blocking something? No offence intended.

I don't want to talk the difference between my country and yours.
It's not a simply question.
and I have no qualification and enough knowledge to talk about it.
But now Steam is alive in China and got lots of game fans.
with time goes by.
I think Steam will gain more China supporters and customers.
so.
Why can't GOG be alive too?

I assume that for whatever reason the CDNs that GOG uses are in some way blocked in China. It's definitely something GOG needs to investigate, have you written to support?
