I have been told by a lot of my hardcore terraria friends from steam that gog terraria players (aka me) have to manually download the update. I need help to know if this is true, if so then how will I download this?

You'll get a notification in your GOG account when the update is ready, then you can download and install it. That might take a few days - GOG does it's own QA on updates for OS compatibility. They've caught developer bugs that way, but sometimes it means updates don't happen right away.

Galaxy should auto update if you're using that, so there's no need to worry if that's the case.

If you do not use Galaxy, you just go to your library and download the installer. Then you install it without uninstalling the old one. If you do use Galaxy, it should auto-update itself. Also, the update is out now.
No need to wait, its up now ( full download, no patch though)

Unless you use Galaxy, the update will not install itself. =D

Find whatever folder you have your browser set to download things to (probably "Downloads"), double-click the setup file (as of this writing, the currently available installer is called "setup_terraria_2.1.1.3.exe" -- though the ".exe" part might not show in File Explorer), and follow the prompts to install the game. (Currently, there is no patch to upgrade from 1.2.4.1 to 1.3.x -- it's a full game installation.) From what somebody else said, it should install over the old version without a problem -- though, just in case, it might be a good idea back up any of your old character and world files that you want to keep before you install the new version (these save files are located in C:[or whatever drive you have Terraria installed on]\Users\[your Windows account username]\Documents\My Games\Terraria). If you're cautious, though, just uninstall the old version first, then install the new game.

Hope this is HELPful. ; )

Just install right over the top. Will not hurt anything. It did not for me. Fyi, if you want the newer mini biomes, you must generate a new world.

Disclaimer: I did not use t_edit or any mods on this version.

All GOG games come with an uninstaller executable in the game directory (in this case, GOG Games\Terraria, by default; look for a program called "unins000.exe"), and there should generally be a shortcut to it in the game's Start menu folder (or Start screen group in Windows 8), as well. If not, though, just right-click the icon you use to launch the game, click "Open file location", and double-click the "unins000" file with the orange icon in the File Explorer window that pops up. : )

No, your worlds and characters will stay intact. Except that the worlds won't have the new biomes.

Just redownload it in GOG or download GOG Galaxy so it auto-updates. There's a new version that GOG doesn't have yet so I recommend the later.

Well, there's a new version out now, so you'll have to download it again anyway. =D
i can only download the 1.2.4.1 version otherwise when i try to download other versions, nothing happens.
My Library only shows version 1.3.0.3, nothing else.
