Good news McAfee users.
It seems that last DAT definitions exclude TOEE.exe, i.e. it is no longer considered positive (false or not).
However, there is a catch - this is the TOEE.exe from the FIRST release (before modifications, i.e. the one that "contains" Generic.dx).
TOEE.exe (or TOEE3.exe) from the current release is still recognized as Artemis!4802D90217BE false positive.

My suggestion - install Temple from the current release, then recover the TOEE.exe ("Generic.dx" one) from McAfee's quarantine. Of course, if you have it.

You know, I figure I wasted several hours and 5.99. No sense in investing any deeper in something that may or may not work and is already not worth the cost/benefit ratio.

I'm just chalking it up to lesson learned. I will never attempt to play another PC game again. Going console all the way.

Waste of time and money.

It still doesn't work with McAfee. Downloaded the latest update and now I get as far as character creation before it dumps me out to desktop and gives me that crap about not being able to find TOEE.exe(because McAfee deleted it as usual I guess). Congrats on cheating me out of six bucks GOG. If this happens with another game I'm out of here, and I will be sure to tell everyone I know NOT to use your service.

Folks, stop blaming GOG. It's not their fault, so stop acting like children. It's a problem with how the software is configured.

That having having been said, I hope this is fixed sooner than later. I'd love to play this again, but with McAfee screwing me over, I'm not sure if I'll have the pleasuare. At least Planescape and Baldur's Gate worked properly.

Look. I think GOG should have a warning on the page for ToEE, letting people know that you won't be able to run this game if:

You protect your computer using virus protection software

How is this NOT their fault if the program they provide is consistently identified as a virus?

All you had to due was turn off the virus pattern search in the real time scanning options and it will not even notice the Artemis pattern but if you due this you cant turn it back on or it will remove the TOEE .exe file most of your patterns of viruses will cause false alarms anyways according to McAfee virus Search there are more false viruses than actual
