GOG elves -
Just so you guys know, the new version of the exe is still getting zapped by Norton and Ad-Aware. Ad-Aware isn't a problem, since it just blocks it and I can turn it off. Norton, on the other hand, deletes the file as soon as I turn it back on.

McAfee is also auto-deleting the TOEE.exe.

My exe I downloaded around 9:15 am EST got piled on like uh...that poor sap at the bottom of a football pile.

Same problem here with Mcafee, it is a Shame, I want to try this game!

You should email gog support directly if you haven't done so already so they can contact the antivirus companys.

As for a fix it now solution have any of you guys considered a free antivirus like avast? I switched from norton to avast and don't regret it.

Norton and Mcafee are not exactly known for being effective and trustworthy. I use NOD32, Spybot and Malwarebytes and this combination has proven its worth, at least for me, plenty of times. As Ralackk suggested try downloading avast antivirus and see if that helps.

I had this problem with Norton and was able to bypass it by setting Norton's virus scans to exclude both the ToEE installer and the directory it installed to. Its a bit of a pain in the ass but its been working fine since. I've even been able to successfully install the Circle of 8 mod.

I have Avast too, and recommend it to all my friends. But I find sometimes that something slips by one program but running a scan with the other will catch it, so I like to have both. Also, it's not like I'm paying for it - I get Norton free with Comcast.

I did that but it didn't work. Maybe we have different versions.

Then again, I was only able to exempt it from the scan, I couldn't find a way to exempt it from the real-time stuff.

I used to get it free with BT as well but I found it causes quite a lot of overhead both while running and when I boot my computer up. I use Avast now with spybots immunization feature for web browsers. Then run malware bytes once a week or so just incase. I've never personally had any problems, though I'm also fairly careful of where I surf the web.

I'd say avoid Norton like the plague if you are into gaming. It causes a lot of headaches with several titles, and is specially infamous for false positives if you like to use Mods.

Smart Security from NOD and Kaspersky are good antiviruses (with better heuristic than Avast or Norton) and should cause you little to no trouble. Since you didn't pay for it, uninstall it and don't look back.

I have AVG (free) and no problems with it. Before that I had Eset Nod32 (paid) and no problems with it too.
