Have you tried to point the game location manually during installation?

Edit: And BTW you shouldn't try to apply older patch.

well the only reason i tryed patching it with the old second patch is because co8 is supposedly not compatible or somethin so i was told to install second patch to write over and yea i dont know too much about computers srry but what do you mean by point the game location .....(just install it somewhere else? u meen
ok i just read another post that said to not download the default gog installer.....and to create a games folder in c drive and download it there srry for the bother ppl i guess this is common knowledge on here

Regarding patch issue, it is written in Co8 readme:
There is no need to install Atari Patch 3. The only additional feature Atari Patch 3 contains is a fix for the infamous DirectX 9.0c looting bug, but this particular issue is also fixed by the Circle of Eight Modpack. If you have installed patch 3 already or if your game comes pre-patched with Atari Patch 3, don't worry. It doesn't matter.
When you run the Circle of Eight installer, you will have an option to pick up location when it should install to (see pic attached). Click Browse and choose the folder where your ToEE is installed. By default it will be C:/Program Files/GOG.com/Temple of Elemental Evil
If you have 64bit operating system, it will be Program Files(x86) instead

If it was common knowledge, you wouldn't read a post about it ;)
Anyway, installing in default location doesn't make the game unplayable (most of the time). But sometimes can cause some problems, especially if you have Vista or Win7.

if Co8 has status 'Active' then no.
You can start the game through TFE-X menu and play, or customise some options beforehand.
i dont see anything in my folder to start up co8??????

i dont see a TFE-x menu are anyway to start the game only front end and where do i see if its active?

well i just tryed clicking on front end and it said .........0002 error one of the game folders cant be accessed! make sure the no other application uses any of these game folders GRRRRR im just about to say screw it and do a complete reinstall

Radiox1: [...]
TFE-x = ToEE Front-End X
Anyway if modpack installed correctly, you should have TFE-X.exe file in your game folder. Right-click on it and choose 'Run as administrator'.

Font-end menu should appear with a list of modules. Modpack should have 'Active' status (pic below).
