I don't like that the video immediately jumps to the matched word. I'd like to watch the video from the beggining, but it's a drag to click and drag to the left.... no pun intended. I remember that in Her Story you could use a bar that would easily make you navigate to where you want in the video.... there's gotta be a command in this one too. Am I doing something wrong?

this kinda sucks out my soul ... to rewind for ages everytime

Based on that interview it seems this is how the game's been designed.

"So you can rewind and see what the hell was happening to lead up to this moment, or you can skip to the end. Some of these clips are very long, some of them will start places and end in very different places. So there's this idea of...exploring the video."

and

"“Sometimes you watch scenes backwards,” Barlow says of the Walkabout-inspired scrub mechanic in Telling Lies. “It's kind of a way of navigating the scenes. So you can watch a scene backwards. So it might be a scene that starts with everything being nice and happy and end in a screaming argument. You're like, ‘Whoa, why is this character so upset?’ And then you go backwards and see [why]. And then you'll jump to another clip. You're constantly creating this three-dimensional picture of the story with all these different textures, different time frames. And so for me that was...like a way of capturing some of what Roeg [was doing]."

Guess we'll have to keep rewinding!
meh that kinda sucks

the game visually flags any video you've viewed at least single fragment of. If you don't watch the full videos as they become available to you, you will very quickly lose track of which videos you've only seen parts of and which you've completed

I wasn't understanding why people had just 1-2 hour of gameplay and apparently weren't satisfied with the ending, because it seems to me so little time of gameplay... but now, that makes sense lol

guess ill stop playing for a while then because the game really feels like a chore if you have to rewind 1-2 minutes every time

IF there was no way to rewind to the beginning I would say it's a designer choice with which we just have to live with.
But when you actually CAN rewind, but it takes forever - then this designer choice is absolutely terrible and it sucks out all the fun from the game. I stopped playing after 30 minutes, but I did some digging.

I found this on Steam forums, thought I would share (all the praise should go to UnluckyNinja ):

"I directly modified the original c# assembly.
Here is the code I added to the dll: Cnve0qJe (on pastebin.com, I cannot put full links here...)

Hotkeys (mentioned above) check and playback manipulation are added in UpdateInput method of FullScreenPlayback
class.
As well as increasing max speed for mouse drag to 10x orginal, however it doesn't seem to work.

If you still prefer a more secure choice, I used dnSpy to modified the code.
You can look up the class I metioned in the dll, and recompiled it yourself."

The updated file published in the Steam thread worked only for Steam version unfortunately, but I've used the above to modify the file manualy and it worked :)

Left Arrow: Rewind for 2s
Right Arrow: Fast Forward for 2s
Ctrl + Left Arrow: Rewind for 10s
Ctrl + Right Arrow: Fast Forward for 10s
Home / Shift + Left Arrow : Jump to clip start
End / Shift + Right Arrow: Jump to clip end

You can download the file here: 7eMlWlx2 (on ge.tt)
Put it in c:\[game folder]\TellingLies_Data\Managed\.

Remember to backup, just in case :)

It's very sad that they managed to mess this up. Her Story was perfect.
You watch a video, spot a keyword, search that keyword, watch the video from start to finish in order to get the full picture, rinse and repeat. This is how people tend to play these games.

There's no point in watching a video from 4:00 of a 7:00 video, especially if you've never watched that video before.

Sure, give us OPTION to start from a specific point, but literally nobody want to sit there and rewind for minutes.

lol

Hello, can you upload it to another file host site? I can't download it from that one
I just played this a while and stumbled over the same issue. What really amazes me as that whenever you found a video you can see the video on the left in a bigger screen and every occurence of the keyword in smaller videos on the right side. So why on earth didn't Balow just used this first screen to make the video start from the beginning while doing the smaller ones to start from the found keyword? It confuses me like hell and yes, that is really bad design - nothing more and nothing less. I like the game so far but it is annoying to rewind like crazy.

SOLVED

Hey yall Im playing on Xbox and I figured out that if you click on the video thumbnail, instead of one of the timestamps for the keyword search. Click the video thumbnail and when I hold the click the LT, RWD button then then video starts at the beginning. So you have to do it right when you click the thumbnail on the left side and not the mini thumbnails with the timestamps. I THINK I've never tried it on the timestamps. But I've don't it now a few times and it works everytime so hold the rwd button as you click the thumbnail and it starts from the beginning of the video. Hope this helps anyone.

Everything related to video is relevant to me because I often have to deal with this. And for this, I use a powerful and high-quality instrument. This source may have further information https://wave.video/blog/how-to-make-a-lyric-video/ I'm really pleased with the skills and multifunctionality that may aid with any questions about the lyrical video. And for me it has become a real find, which helps me in fulfilling and improving quality.
