Regarding the mod guide at:
https://www.gog.com/news/mod_spotlight_system_shock_2

it says you can overwrite mod files "as long as you stick to the order of installation pointed out above." However, there's really no specific order of installation given. Is it just referring to the order that they listed the mods?

Specifically, this order:

SHTUP
Four Hundred
Vurt's Space
SHMUP

Those are the only ones I plan to install, because I don't want to change gameplay.

Thanks,
John

Thanks for the reply! I had read that post already, but according to the guide I linked, it says not to use mod managers and to just install the mods directly into the DataPermMods folder. That's why it mentions doing them in the right order, in case of any overwrites.

Is this not the right way to do it?

Thanks.
the mod spotlight is very old now, follow the guide on systemshock.org.

Thanks! Just one more thing. The link you provided doesn't mention the SHMUP mod for sound. Can I still use the link from the spotlight page, or is there a newer page for that mod?

Also, similar question about Vurt's Hi-Res Space mod. The spotlight page links to a file called "Vurt's Hi-Res Space v1.1.7z," but the link you gave only goes to a page with a bunch of different, separate 7z files for all kinds of things, but not one single mod. Can I use the one from the spotlight page, or is that old too?

Thanks!
they have been superseded by Vintage Song Remake and SHTUP-ND. just forget about mod spotlight, that systemshock.org link has everything you need.

Ok, one final question. I just downloaded everything and was about to unpack all the mods, but there is no "DMM" folder in my System Shock 2 folder. I have installed SS2Tool and I thought it was supposed to create this folder. Or do I just create it myself?

Thanks.
just run the modmanager, it will get created.
Thanks so much! I appreciate all of your help!
