run as-is, it shouldn't really matter, everything will be overwritten correctly.

the latest ss2tool uses DataPermMods.

voodoo47: ss2tool has some extra fixes, so yeah, it's recommended.

haydenaurion: But nothing that unbalances or changes the game from the original intention of the developers?
no, only very strict bugfixes - think fixed positions of overlapping textures and similar.

Awesome. SS2Tool plus the first four mods all work fine. Game boots up, rebound my keys, changed the resolution, new game, cinematics played, and everything is running smoothly (at least as far as the training area goes).

Ah, very good. Thanks again voodoo47, you helped me patch up Thief Gold last year which made for a very enjoyable first ever playthrough and now you've helped with what will be my first play of System Shock 2. :)

Edit: Someone get this guy a sticky for his thread! :D

Also, do we have to do that whole moving the .crf files into the res folder? I was going to install ADaoB, but the readme mentions doing all that.
And what about "Vurt´s Goo" mod? It´s the only one you didnt included on the list. Any reason?
three actually - it strays a bit too much from the original concept, it can slow down the game considerably (especially laptops/integrated gpus), and it always makes me hungry for some reason. anyway, it's linked in the systemshock.org topic, that is enough for now - anyone is free to try it out (and see whether he gets hungry as well).

I've extracted everything into my DataPermanentMods folder, but I'm not sure whether i t's working or not...space still looks distinctively blurry.

Apparently mods go into DataPermMods, not DataPermanentMods. I made the same mistake.
yes, apparently the GOG release uses the older file structure, so after repatching, there will be a useless DataPermanentMods folder. don't use it and you will be fine.
Fixed! EVERYTHING LOOKS SO PRETTY NOW :)
Wrong thread...

So can someone else opine on the texture mods? Are they consistent, or do they leave jarring un-modded areas?
almost all mods are work in progress, but still well worth installing. you can try out a mod in the DataTempMods, and if you like it, just move it to the rest of the mods in DataPermMods.
If I don't put the mods in the supplied DataPermanentMods they don't work for me. It I make a DataPermMods and put mods in that they don't work. *shrugs*
