To all the gamers out there who still use Windows 7 64 like I do the new demo works fine, but with some minor issues. When you initially load the new demo you will get a "The procedure entry point DXGIGetDebugInterface1 could not be located in the dynamic link library dxgi.dll." error. Just hit the "OK" button in the error dialog box and the demo will continue to load. Some of the intro videos are just a black screen with audio like the typing green text video. Just click on the mouse and it will skip it and load into the game. The game itself works just fine in Windows 7 64.

If you want to see the videos that don't play correctly in the beginning you can go to the game's "Movies" folder (...\System Shock Demo\SystemReShock\Content\Movies) and play them with a decent movie player like VLC. Hopefully this gets ironed out for the final build of the game.

Thanks—as a long-term Win 7 x64 user, I appreciate it.

HuginnGreiling: Thanks—as a long-term Win 7 x64 user, I appreciate it.
The four movie files that do not display properly in Windows 7 are the following:

00_VMAIL 4k.mp4
02_Crash A 4k.mp4
IntroExposition.mp4
System Shock Screen 01_BootUp A 4k.mp4

Just use an online video conversion utility...

I used this one >> https://video.online-convert.com/convert-to-mp4

...and convert those four videos to MP4 (MP4>MP4) and you should be good to go. The DXGI error when you load the game they still need to fix, but at least you get the full game experience now in Windows 7.

The updated v1.22 of the demo does not work at all with Windows 7 64 unlike v1.21. A slightly different DXGI error and then nothing loads.

Maybe the videos need to be converted again?

Unfortunately, the video conversion is unrelated. The videos actually work this time around and you can test that outside of the game. The issue seems to be a DirectX related issue which v1.21 also had, but continued to operate even with the error. I've posted about it at their Discord channel. See what the devs say.
I can't even get the game to launch. The play button does nothing.

If you run the demo on its own without the Galaxy client you will see the error. It is DirectX related and a few of us have submitted the issue with the developers on their Discord server.

So I got the new v1.22 demo fully working in Windows 7 64.

You will still need to convert those videos as I mentioned above. There is also an alternate way to get the videos working as posted over at Steam >> https://steamcommunity.com/app/482400/discussions/0/2291716608425491027/?ctp=2#c2291716608428351550

To get the actual game running, download ReShade and inject the game's executable with it.

https://reshade.me/

The exe you want to inject is in the binaries folder. In my case that is: C:\GOG Games\System Shock Demo\SystemReShock\Binaries\Win64\SystemReShock-Win64-Shipping.exe

It will ask you what post processing effects you want. I just choose the default settings.

Once done, run the game. If you want to get rid of the ReShade bar at the top hit the "HOME" key and click "Skip Tutorial". Then hit the "ESC" key and it should fade from the screen.

Have fun!

Update: Discord user "The Silver" has expanded upon my find and has a simpler and less invasive method than injecting the exe with ReShade. Here is what he found:

1.) Decompress the ReShade install exe to a folder.
2.) Rename the file "ReShade64.dll" to "dxgi.dll"
3.) Copy that file to the folder where the game's "SystemReShock-Win64-Shipping.exe" executable file is located. In my case that is: C:\GOG Games\System Shock Demo\SystemReShock\Binaries\Win64\
4.) Done! Now play!

Thanks to "The Silver" for making the process a whole lot easier. Still need to convert those videos though.

Thanks for the tip! Works perfect. Hope they will fix and keep native compatibility though.

Really? didn't work for me at all. I took the install exe, put it into a folder renamed dxgi.dll in the same location as the game exe and just got an error.

Once you rename "ReShade64.dll" to "dxgi.dll" make sure you are copying that file to the path "...\System Shock Demo\SystemReShock\Binaries\Win64\" where the file "SystemReShock-Win64-Shipping.exe" is located.

They did say on their Discord server they will be fixing the Windows 7 issues eventually. So good news. Until then doing those steps plus converting the videos gets the v1.22 demo fully working.

Thanks, I"m assuming this also works for steam as well. Just different directory of course.

Yeah, should not matter. It's the same demo.
