The key bindings have the same problem that Thief Gold has, the game thinks S (walk) means walk slowly. I was wondering if anyone has a bind file that can help fix this problem?

Have you actually used the 'customize controls' to set S to run forward? You may also want to clear the 'walk forward' bind, to see if that fixes the problem.

What I want is to set the bind keys to Thief 2's setup. W - walk (not run), S - backwards, A - move left, D - move right. You could do this in Thief Gold (the game that has the most similar control setup to SS2) with the bind file (Classic) that comes with Tfix. I was wondering if anyone has a bind file that can help solve this problem.
How about changing the controls to your liking? In the case of WSAD that should take approximately 12 seconds. If that's not specific enough, you can just edit the bind files in Windows.

You can customize the controls right in the game, and do it as you want to do it. Open options, click on controls, then click on customize controls. Now in the list of binds, left click on the command you want to change and the at top click on "bind" - now click on the key you want to use for the command. If that key is already bound to another command it will automatically unbind from that command and bind to the new command.

I think SS2Tool v5.0 comes with a fix to return binds to the original versions. Are you using SS2Tool v5.0, or just the default GoG build (v4.0 I believe)?

I downloaded V.5 but the problem is that I want to use walk without having to hold down Run (W key) and Speed Toggle (Shift Key) The game thinks that the normal walk key (S in my case thinks) means creep or walk slowly. Thief Gold had the same problem were you had to hold down W and Shift if you just wanted to walk; the Tfix download had a bind setup that fix this problem buy changing the console command by default. What I am wondering is if there is a custom bind file that can do the same thing with SS2 since it has the same engine version as Thief Gold.

Well, you can always open up the Thief keybind file and copy/replace the relevant portion in the SS2 keybind file.
OK, I understand what you're asking now. Let me lay it out for others in a more recognizable form. In SS2 there are three speeds of movement.

Run
Walk
Walk slow

The bind file has direct binds for Run and for Walk slow.

The OP wants to use the middle speed, which is NOT the same as the 'Walk slow' speed. The only way (from within the game) to get that speed is to press your RUN button while holding down the speed toggle key.

I did some tinkering and found a way to do it. You need to go to the BINDS directory in your SS2 install directory. Now you will see a list of "cfga0000.bnd" files. If you just want to modify the default keybinds, open up the 0000 file with notepad. If you already have a custom bind saved, open each file and at the top will be the name of the bind file. Find the one that is yours.

Find the "bind w" line (should be in alpha order) Change the bind to...

bind w +walk

Save file, run SS2, then go customize controls and select LOAD, then select "default" (or the one your custom file above). Now in game you should have that 'middle speed'. I tested it and it works. Let me know if you can get it to work. (feel free to rate my post if it was helpful)
