Gazoinks: Thanks for proving that arguing with you is going to be completely pointless. I can move on to less dumb things, now.

ZylonBane: Likewise. When actual gamers hit up mod sites looking for mods to improve their experience, they DO care whether it's high quality or not. When someone spends time downloading and installing a mod, only to find that it's worthless crap, do you think he cares about stroking the ego of the person who posted it? No. No he does not.

In summary-- a healthy mod community needs honest, blunt feedback, not carebears.
I'm really, honestly, not arguing that. And, heck, if i came of too accusatory earlier I probably was, I was groggy. But there's a difference between being blunt and unfriendly, and all I'm saying is that I think you fell too far on the wrong end of that spectrum.

To all here,

I uploaded the original CGI vids and plan to update the first post here with the url to them.

If you compare my HD versions to the original youll see that my HD versions actually are better.

Enjoy being able to compare now and actually see first hand and side by side the diffs and improvements. Enjoying hearing them as well.

Got the 3 major original cutscenes uploaded to compare with my HD versions. Linked to them as well. More shall come over time.
I'm sorry, I really am trying, but the difference seems quite negligible. And the aspect ratio is wrong, if you look at the youtube videos, you can see it yourself - the original video is in a black 'square' while the upscaled one is stretched. I do believe that with enough effort, there could be ways to actually improve the vid's quality - you just seemed to have tackled it wrong there. Thanks for trying nevertheless, there might be people who do appreaciate it.
I have to agree with ZylonBane and Voodoo47 on these threads.

I have watched the videos and the difference is negligible - which is expected from any "upscaling" efforts.

You really don't seem to understand how resolution and upscaling work. People are telling you bluntly (and perhaps rudely) because:

1) The thread title(s) are totally misleading
2) Your repeated personal attacks and unwillingness to concede your misunderstandings make it seem like you desperately have something to prove.
Wow, this is some serious High Definition! Too bad it's not in 48fps like The Hobbit...
Well, I have looked at the new versions and I can not see what the fuss is all about. I just started playing this version of SS2 with some of the other user mods and what I see it pretty good. I am playing this on an HD 27" LCD monitor at 1900x1200 x32 and it looks really good. What I noticed was that the original cut-scenes were really ragged due to the size of the LCD. These modified FMVs look about as good now as what I saw when I originally played the game back when it first came out on my 15- 17 inch CRTs. I never considered the game cut scenes that good back then.

I will incorporate these into the present game. Where I can see a difference is especially noticeable in the first FMV showing the star ships maneuvering around each other. Good job. I don't see how they could be any better without completely reworking from scratch. It is to bad that the stuttering in a couple of the FMVs can't be re-worked a little better however.

Arthandas: Wow, this is some serious High Definition!
No, it is not high definition. It's standard definition, stretched out into a high definition-sized frame buffer. No additional definition has been added to the image Any perceived improvement is entirely down to personal preference of the scaling algorithm he used vs the scaling algorithm used by the built-in video player.

Either way, even if you like them better, calling them "HD" is a lie. A more accurate title for this thread would have been "CGI videos pre-upscaled!"
Your sarcasm detecting implant may be out of charge...
Sorry, but this must be the only HD video that looked worse then the stock one.

Poe's Law. If he was being sarcastic, he needs to be a lot more blatant about it.

Lol, second sentence seems to me to be the blatant part. Do a quick google search on '48fps' and tell me how many people you find championing it. But hey, I dunno Arthandas from Jack, so it's entirely possible (although less likely) that he's serious.

Well everyone aside from you seems to have understood it actually was sarcasm.

(sarcasm ->) BUT I'M SURE IT'S HIS FAULT (<- sarcasm)
Yes, I was being sarcastic, sorry if it wasn't obvious enough :D

Btw, I really like how OP upscaled 320x240 (4:3 aspect) to 1920x1080 (16:9 aspect) and said he didn't mess the aspect ratio.
