YA!! IM THAT EXCITED THAT IM ANNOYINGLY AM TYPING IN ALL CAPS!!

Seriously, Just add No One Lives Forever and I'll never need another game from GOG.com

Who else bought syndicate wars?
I plan on it... not sure though since I heard it doesn't stack that well compared to the original from some.
Bought it in an instant. I like both the original and Wars. The soundtrack/sound effects and blowing up buildings is especially cool in Wars. :D

edit: oh and the legendary trailer

Guilty :)
I bought it but I'm having issues with emulation speed and sound issues. The sound is somewhat crackly and every so often game game freezes for a bit.

Is anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it?

Thanks.

1) Check if game is running in OpenGL (default)
2) Close all youtubz and music players in background (first, Syndicate Wars deserves it, second, game really doesn't like any alternative music sources playing in the same time)
3) You can speed up the game by pressing Ctrl+F12* (it adds more cycles to dosbox - number of cycles for smooth play can vary on different CPUs).
*Ctrl+F11 - decreases number of cycles

Cheers, to all Syndicate players! :)

I recommend using the windows port instead.

Created a thread to help people install the windows port and language packs

Ravey: Use SWars Port instead of DOSBox.

I've bundled the port along with dummy folders for convenience:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14499652/swars.zip

Drag everything onto your Syndicate Wars install.

(the ogg music files you need may already be in the sound folder, so if there's no music in-game - move them to the music folder and rename them track_1.ogg, track_2.ogg, track_3.ogg.)
Thanks for that, I only tested it for a few minutes but it works brilliantly!
Also bought it right away. Now I'm gonna try the source port.

Thanks a lot, man. I downloaded the official installer and it wants to know the CD-ROM drive and stuff. It's so much easier with your archive.

Thanks for these hints, music works perfectly. However, the intro still isn't being played. Won't this port ever play the intro or do I have to also rename the video files or something?
It should work if intro.smk is in the /intro folder.

Indeed, I feel stupid now. Hadn't noticed the intro folder. This won't matter for a few months but I take it that the outro files also have to be put into this folder? (there's several ones, though - don't know which one does what)

Btw, are you one of the port's developers or just a user?

Just a user ;-)

The other four cutscenes(outro-z.smk, outro-s.smk, chu_ele.smk, syn_ele.smk) should be in the data folder.
yep instand buy.. love both syndicate games.. and both run pretty awesome on win7 64bit
I MOVEd ALONG! & had to buy it, thank you so very much for all the information for tweaking, Ravey!
