Edit 2: Please ignore the question about API levels. I figured out that I'm dumb and completely missed it the 3 times I went through the manual. My question about the picture is till up though. Skip to paragraph 3.

So I'm playing the original Syndicate, and while I can play the game fine and understand the majority of the mechanics, when it comes to IPA in-game I'm kinda just guessing.

The 'Question about API levels' topic down below answered nearly every question I had about the IPA/API levels themselves, such as what they do on each side of the bar. But what's the order from top to bottom? I know Intelligence increases their 'autonomy' and take shots themselves, but from reading the manual I assumed Intelligence was the topmost bar. But when I play, they don't seem to take shots by themselves at all unless I put points into the bottom(red colored) and/or middle(blue colored) bar, not the top(yellowish colored) bar. So from my playing I've been guessing, from top to bottom, it's Adrenaline-Intelligence-Perception. Is that right?

I've been getting this odd option during the first load. It pops up on the first load of the game, along with language and 'do I want sound' options, so I'm assuming it has somthing to do with the setup. I've just been facerolling my keyboard when it pops up and I haven't noticed anything odd yet. I've attached the picture to this post.

Edit: Well, after screwing around a some more, it finally dawned on me to actually experiment rather than just using max injections on the last two drugs at the same time. So I've managed to confirm myself that:
- Top Bar: Adrenaline[Red Colored].
- Middle Bar: Intelligence[Blue Colored].
- Bottom Bar: Perception[Yellowish Colored].

I also realize that I mixed up the colors in my post. Top is red, not yellow, though thankfully I seem to be right about needing at least a little bit of dat perception drug. Please feel free to correct me on any of this.

Though now that I think about it, I might be mixing up the bottom and middle bar. I don't have time right now, but I will tomorrow and I'll experiment with that more.

I also think that the 'picture' thing I brought up earlier is related to sound a bit. I had to delete the settings file that generates when you first fire up the game so I could take that screenshot to begin with, and I'm getting more sounds now in the menu and not just in-game. I'm pretty sure I hit the check sign when it asked the first time, but I can't be sure. I don't have time to experiment with that right now, but I will tomorrow.

Edit 2: Fuck I'm dumb. It shows a picture of the API levels right in the manual. I'm pretty sure since it was similar in layout to other pictures, my eyes just glazed over it. Pretty sure I could use a modification for them. :p

But yeah, it's API, not AIP. That's actually makes a lot more sense with what I experienced in-game, now that I think about it. It also makes sense since that in that API thread I mentioned no body bothered to correct him on the acronym.

So while I got the answer to my main question, the 'what the heck is that in my picture' question is still up in the air.

Yup! The settings in the picture should be correct.

What do they mean though?
By default DOSBox provides Sound Blaster 16 level 16-bit stereo sound (IO 220, IRQ 7, DMA 1)

I/O Address (IO)
Each device (keyboard, mouse, sound card...) is mapped to a unique I/O (Input/Output) address. This allows the device to exchange information between itself and the rest of the system.

Interrupt Request (IRQ)
A hardware signal that interrupts the CPU, allowing the device to do something.

Direct Memory Access (DMA)
DMA gives a device direct access to specific data stored in memory, without it being processed by the CPU. The sound card is capable of processing the data itself, so it uses DMA to bypass the CPU (saving processing time).

Typically GOG would have already handled first-time configurations like this, though.

Thanks for the info! I've uninstalled and reinstalled this game a few times ever since I bought it, and that was the first time I saw it. Actually, I'm pretty sure I saw it the first time AFTER I started poking around in the directory, and I had deleted the settings file so I can see it again and take a screenshot. I'll make sure to leave things at the default next time I see it.
