So I bought SWAT 3 from the GOG website. When I try to run the program, I see a black screen, then a loading bar pops up that says, "Loading Scenarios" then I hear some sounds for about 5 seconds, then I'm left looking at a black screen until I press CTRL+ALT+DEL, I start the Task Manager, and under the Applications Tab, it says SWAT 3, Not responding. Anyone else had this problem or gotten it to work?

Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.8GHz
4 GB RAM
Nvidia 9500GT 1 GB
On-board sound card
Windows 7 PRO SP1

And yes, everything is up to date as well with the PC.

I tried to run as administrator, got the same results as running normally, tried to install the Direct X thing from the Microsoft website and I am told by the software installation that, I already have the latest and greatest Direct X, so no need to install it.

I do own the original CD, which runs, but even in the first mission, the guy you are looking for never shows up in the house. He's usually in the attic, and I've run through that mission 3 times, and he never shows up. But I was hoping with the GOG version, all of that would've been fixed, well, I can't even get into the game.

Can anyone help out here? Thanks.

Don't forget there are other places Martin Brenner hides in. He hides under his bed sometimes (you may have to get our your mirror to see him) . Sometimes he is in the kitchen cupboard near the sink. Sometimes he is hiding under the stairs on the first floor.

As for your game loading problem I wonder if it is just a strange response to the movies. Swat 3's movies were encoded with video codec that is no longer supplied with Windows. Most people get a crash with a vague warning about "DDERR_GENERIC" and some just get a crash to desktop.

You can test if the movies are the issue by modifying your shortcut to swat 3 to include the -nointro flag:

Example target before the change:
"D:\Program Files (x86)\GalaxyClient\Games\SWAT 3\swat.exe"

You add the -nointro but make sure there is a space between swat.exe and -nointro:
"D:\Program Files (x86)\GalaxyClient\Games\SWAT 3\swat.exe -nointro"

This is just a temporary measure to test if this is the problem. It will bypass the movies at the start. If it is the problem then you will want use one of the two more permanent fixes in the website link I posted above.

I had this exact problem, I've tried installing all the aforementioned codec packs, Xvid movies, etc. The only thing that seems to allow me to get into the game is disabling the intro movie by either launching from command prompt with the parameter -nointro or by modifying the shortcut. Haven't had any other issues so far... *knock on wood*

Note: If modifying the shortcut in Windows 7 the parameter must be outside the parenthesis in order to work.
(i.e.: "C:\GOG Games\SWAT 3\ swat.exe" -nointro)

Some missions play movies when you fail or succeed at the mission so your game will crash on those maps. The -no intro fix doesn't help with that.

Have you also tried putting the Swat.exe file into Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode?

When you installed the XVID movies did you also check to make sure you have the XVID codec installed by double clicking on one of the movies in Windows File Explorer? If it can run in Windows it should be able to run in Swat 3.

I have done everything, the videos work fine outside of the game. It's set in compatibilty mode I've even tried numerous combinations of things, no difference.
