I had this info up at RPGWatch [ http://www.rpgwatch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2649&highlight=summoner ] for years, thought I would post it here.

Summoner Mod [ http://www.atomicgamer.com/files/18387/summonermodv10-zip ] fixes:

- Much more interesting and detailed item descriptions (where possible)
- A greater variety of items available for sale in shops, in all the towns and cities of the game. You can now buy
reasonably decent weapons and armour earlier on, and some interesting magic items, providing you've got the money!
- Tweaked item costs, armour protection, weapon damage/speed, damage types, etc, for improved balance.
- Plate armour and Orenian Bougou-Dou armour gives much more protection, to compensate for the fact that you can't wear leg armour with it
(previously, chainmail armour and chainmail leggings together provided more protection than any suit plate armour, despite being much cheaper)
- Longswords and maces are now one-handed and can be used with a shield. All katanas, battleaxes and claymore-type swords are now 2-handed.
- Magic items can only be worn by characters with the skills that they affect. E.g only Flece can wear the Thief's Torque, only Joseph and Rosalind
can wear the Elemental Necklace, and only Joseph can wear rings of summoning.
- New or modified textures for some items, such as spell scrolls and unique weapons (like the Fiery Falchion and Logaros Longsword).
for all unique weapons
- Most enemies have a much larger detection radius (if they can see you).
- Tweaked resistances and weaknesses for some enemies (e.g elemental creatures like Fire Imps are always immune to or healed by their element and vulnerable
to their opposite, and golems and skeletons are vulnerable to blunt weapons and resistant/immune to piercing).
- Enemies now drop "loot" such as weapons slightly more often, and drop a greater variety of items in some cases.
- Enabled a few previously "monster-only" weapons such as the Bone Sword, Kothudin Lance and Bacite Staff. They now have
descriptions, proper costs (i.e not 20gp) and slightly tweaked damage/speed for balancing purposes. They can be bought from
some merchants or picked up from the enemies that carry them (e.g Bone Servants and Bacite Shamans)
- Fixed a few minor typos/bugs with item names in shop

Good Luck!
Thanks, sounds interesting, I'll give it a go once I start playing.

Is there a way to confirm it's actually working? Do you have to run the install.bat at least once?

Also, do you think this should work with Timeslip's unofficial update that adds widescreen support?

If you notice several items in the 2 shops in The Outskirts area, once you leave the starting village, then it's working. Iirc the Potion shop near the zone into the city normally only has 1 or 2 items, with the patch it should be many (6+). I haven't played in a while so I can't remember for sure, one easy way is to buy a Longsword or a Mace at the Weapon shop on the far side of The Outskirts, if it's one handed it's working. There are some large two handed Maces and Swords but not sure they are available at the start of the game.

Iirc, there is a Install.bat and UnInstall.bat. Think if you right click on the .bat file, then Edit with Notepad you can see the directory everything is installed. You can do manual edits yourself, I don't think they are encrypted files.

Yes, most likely Timeslip works on encrypted type files, either dll or exe to adjust the display.

What was the consensus with this? Does it allow for alt-tab/also work with the Timeslip patch?
I'm playing with it and it's working with Timeslip's patch but I can't alt-tab.
This mod has nothing to do with any file effecting resolution, they are strait text files which can be edited with Notepad. Well think he did do a little work on some of the icons, but still nothing remotely to do with Timeslip's patch. All you have to do is run the Uninstall.bat (it's for allowing you to play mulitplayer games, so you did not get flagged for cheating with modified files) it removes all the files.

Just checked this, though atm I'm using the Steam version. To be able to Alt-Tab the game has to be set to the same resolution as the Desktop, at least for me.

What a weird requirement. I use 1080p and that's my desktop resolution, I still can't do it. This is with the GOG version though.
Try using the Windows key instead of Alt-Tab.

Also FYI to everyone, I had to reduce the Vision increase added by the mod. The monsters could see too far and seem to be pulling multiple groups. In case anyone else has this issue, all you need to do is reduce line 20 (about)
'Field of view range' from 25 to 20 for each monster*,tbl file.

I'm using Notepad ++, it's very high quality and free.

Legit question: how does one run applications using the Windows key that are not on the Desktop? The problem seems to be with Summoner locking me out of the desktop, but if I could run stuff just fine not on the desktop with Summoner that would be the easiest way to circumvent the problem.

I'm still not a Windows 8 expert though.

No clue, I still use Win 7, Is it possible you don't have admin rights on your machine, or something along those lines? Unless it's a direct problem with Win 8, I don't see how Summoner could cause the problem.

Win8 Windows button takes you to a separate Start Screen. Windows 8 doesn't have the Start Button in the bottom left, the Start Screen is the equivalent. I need to look up how to set up multiple desktops though.
ive used this mod since cd version of this game.
its essential especially for camera views, now you enjoy with greater depth of view with it.
and some of codes get the game harder than the normal version id warn.
Very interesting.

Sadly, the download link is currently broken and I am unable to get the patch.
I found a copy here. Choose the Public Server #1
