Same price as steam version and no online multiplayer ?

I can accept a missing feature but same price ?

Maybe we can have it on a futur update ? If not i'm very disapointed about GOG on this ...
This is a very valid complaint, but I don't think putting the blame on GOG is deserved. GOG does sell many games that support online via Galaxy, some of them even offer crossplay with Steam and other gaming platforms. If this one lacks those features, I'm pretty sure it's the developer/publisher's decision, not GOG's.

Having said this, even though I do acknowledge lack of online features IS a valid complaint, I must say it doesn't really affect me, personally, as I wasn't intending to play it online, anyway. Plus, it is a very well-made game, even with the missing features, and I'd rather have the option to buy it on GOG with no online, than having GOG refusing to sell it unless the devs added those features.

Maybe I'd lower the price, since they're not selling the exact same product as they do on Steam, but, again, that's not really up to GOG.
These are good arguments.

As I said, I can accept less functionality but from my point of view this online functionality is still an important asset for this type of game.

And selling it at the same price is a questionable business practice.
Whether it was from the developers / editors who imposed it and GOG of course who accepted it.

I am the first to defend the values of GOG and elsewhere in normal times, I always favor my purchases on GOG before the other platforms even if for that I must wait before having my favorite games.
But in this specific case difficult to see the advantage since the version provided is lower.

They would have put the game at 15% reduction instead of 10% for example it would have been a commercial gesture even if we agree in the end it is the same.

It becomes difficult therefore with this kind of practice to argue the fact of prioritizing the purchase on GOG before the other platforms.

Now it may be that in a while this functionality will be implemented and all this discussion will no longer need to be ...
It will NOT be implemented. I don't know the reason behind it, but there is no plan to add this feature to the GOG versions. Probably it's because of the Remote Play functionality of the Steam version... Steam does not support more than two players online. So, it's sad to see this feature missing, but I don't buy Steam games when they are available on GOG. IMO DRM-free is more important for me than this missing feature.

I will focus on couch-coop with up to four player instead when the corona-crisis will calm down. ;-)

Thx a lot, but it's really not sure:

they’ll probably have a pass at online and reevaluate the situation
Probably... Reevaluation... Hmm...

I was referring to:

April 30th: this:
Hello, unfortunately the GOG version of the game won’t be supporting online features

I bouth the game the day one in GOG. I prefer buy a game in GOG than Steam.
I played only 27 minutes to this game, when a bug at controller vibrations in game drove me to forums where I read about this lacking feature of the game in GOG ... so I checked it, and said .... WTF ?

Same price, and less functions ?

Sorry, I stopped playing this game, so I requested the money refund and now (a week after) I'm watting to get my money back.

The day in future, when the game will have online mode in GOG (for me LAN play is enought), I will buy the game again.

If they say this feature in GOG will never be available, It's simple I say I will never buy this game.

There is other option, wait for a Humble Bundle pack (this is the typical game in bundles). Then i will buy it, and probably cheaper, and perhaps with online play coop (bundles, often have steam codes).

I have no hurry. I've been waiting a SOR saga continuation from SEGA Megadrive (Genesis) epoch.

So I feel sorry for GOG and Lizardcube, but I will not be the fool, by buying a cut down game in a store at same price in Steam, who developpers are not thinking to resolve this.

About:
"they’ll probably have a pass at online and reevaluate the situation"

Well, the best way to push them to "reevaluate the situation" is not buying the game, or request the refund of your money. That's what I did.

I had bought the game on GOG as a gift for a friend with whom I had played SOR2 a lot as a child. He was very much disappointed for the lack of online multiplayer, which had not been noted on the GOG store page at that time. Consequently, I have refrained from purchasing another copy for myself on GOG. If I decide to buy further copies for me and other friends, I will not buy on GOG unless Lizarcube/GOG offer the full functionality.
I find this quite sad, for other games (e.g. Blood) I have often preferred the GOG over the steam version, or even purchased both. I have also purchased some games that I already own on CD/DVD again on GOG - for convenience and because I want to support them in offering DRM-free games.

Do you know if it is possible to play it also with friends who've bought it on Steam?

Nope sorry. You can read this on the store page:

Please note: The GOG GALAXY Client is required to access online features. Multiplayer is available only between GOG.com users.

Ah, I missed that. It's at the very lowest part of the store page in very small font. I hope they will add it some time. I've bought one gift copy on GOG for a friend and one on steam (after my friend's outrage mentioned above) for my brother, and don't want to buy two copies for myself in order to play with them.

the best is to invite your friend. A couch, beers, pizza and two gamepads...like old times :)

But seriously wait for a discount and buy it on steam.
