Hi,

I bought this game yesterday and it played perfectly. But then, when I tried to play it today, it became sluggish as hell, 4fps and lower... any idea what it could be? I have an i7-2700 and an AMD Radeon HD 6450, with 16gb ram.

Thanks for the help!

While the game is running, use task manager to see of xboxstat.exe is running. It would be easy to find if you sort the processes alphabetically. If it is running, select xboxstat.exe and click "end task", then alt+tab back to the game. Wait about 20 seconds before resuming.

Thanks for that, but I think I actually narrowed it down to one issue: every time I plug in a third controller, the framerate drops dramatically. Two controllers, it plays very smoothly, but if I merely plug in the third controller (I do not even need to call in the other player), then the frame rate drops...

Lucky you - I have exact the same problem when I connect two controllers (both Xboxes, both bluetooth). One controller runs smoothly. And the issue doesn't happen all the time - there are moments, when the game works perfectly with both controllers connected, but most of the time it becomes hardly playable due to inconsistent (but mostly horribly low) framerate.
Hi everyone,

Just to confirm: Is everyone running on Windows? I have an experimental patch that may help with this, I just need to know what I'm building against first.

Yes, I encounter my problems on Windows (10, 21H1).

Got it, so here's a test DLL...

http://www.flibitijibibo.com/SDL2-x64-git.zip

This is just a build of the platform layer used by SOR4, which you can find the source to here:

https://github.com/libsdl-org/SDL

Extract that zip and copy the SDL2.dll over the one next to SOR4.exe (make a backup of the old one first!) and it should Just Work. I'm hoping a simple update is enough to make it happy, but if not I may need the exact details of the controllers so I can file a formal report for the SDL controller maintainers.
Thanks flibitijibibo - first tests looks promising. I'll let you know after couple more days if it remains solved, when we have more gaming sessions with my wife.
