Does anyone know they're gonna put it on Steam later?

Do you want it on Steam so you can have all your games in one place, or because you expect there to be Steam achievements, or other reasons?

On steam have my wallet for game cards so if Stranglehold re-released on steam its free for me.

BTW: Stranglehold does not contain achievements
GoG did all the work unshackling Stranglehold from its DRM/SecuROM-chains and making sure it runs on modern systems and now they should do their competition a solid and release it on their platforms too?
I don't think so.

Buy it here, it's just a tenner anyway.

That's the PR spin they put in their release text, but it's probably not quite true. There have been DRM-free retail releases of Stranglehold in the past (I can name the British Sold Out-rerelease and the German Software Pyramide budget release off the top of my head).
up
I will buy the game when it sells on Steam.

For your information, Securom games work fine on Windows 7 and 10 (not like Safedisc and Starforce ones).

I have Stranglehold retail version on 2 DVD and works fine with Windows 10. I have other Securom 5/7 games too (The Wheelman, Reservoir Dogs, Boiling Point, Silent Hill 3 and 4.

I see that some old games in digital format are removed from GOG and Steam after a few years (Wolfenstein from 2009 is a good example), so having a disc version is always good, you can always reinstall it

You can always trust one zealot to get in there.

The one nice thing is that even if it is delisted here, if you bought it you can still access the game (just as with most services).

I'd definitely prefer the GOG version, over having any trace amounts of those old versions of DRM out there (ala StarForce, Safedisc, Securom, etc.)
Securom doesn't install any driver on Windows, the DRM is on the disc.

Also, as I said before, games on GOG/Steam could be removed after few years (Wolfenstein from 2009 is a good exemple, Re-Volt is another : https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Re-Volt) to name a few. So yeah, good luck with all your digital games that you can lost if Gog/Steam removes them from the store.

Also, some games are not the same as the retail version, music/soundtrack can be ripped (Quake), etc.

why bother with steam when you can get a DRM free version over here that you can keep safe in your portable hard drive?
