I'm very looking forward to the remastered version, hopefully we can welcome it here, soon...

Anyone try pinging them on Twitter? No reason we shouldn't get the remaster

I am one of few comments on steam reminding them of GOG. I also texted them via facebook, where I always got an answer. I'll keep you informed...

I am afraid, I have not the best news. Their facebook appearance told me, that they couldn't work on the gog build due to their other projects. They only "hope to work on that" soon.

Thanks for asking and letting the forum know.

Funny how they found the time to work on the Steam version - guess I won't be buying any more game from these devs if this is how they treat their GOG customers :(
I have a bit of understanding, since they are a small team. But I also told them, that often enough gog users are treated as second class customers... hopefully their promise was not just a shallow phrase...
This also happened recently with The Path of Destinies... it got a big engine update and quality of life update on Steam and all attempts to get a response out of the devs have come back void... super frustrating how some games get the initial GOG release, then they're forgotten about by the devs... I have a few more in my library with a "Needs update" tag applied to them that will most likely never get updated
This was their reply to me:
Due to the workload required, it was not possible for us to release the latest update of Stories: The Path of Destinies on GOG at the same time as the other stores last October 5th.

Since we moved the game to Unreal Engine 4.18, releasing an update on GOG requires work with their SDK, since the achievements are tied to it. Unfortunately, our engineers are currently busy with the Omensight update and Switch release. There was no way for us to ensure a quality release on GOG.

This will not be an issue for Update 1.04 of Omensight. It will be available on October 16th.

We will do our best to update the GOG version of Stories in the future, but just not in the near future. Apologies.

Valuable information... thank you for posting this. It's a shame Omensight didn't get Achievements on GOG when their previous (older) game did... odd.

If Achievements is the problem, then don't worry about achievements, achievements are for the console kiddies who want to pretend being PC gamers anyways. So release the patch without achievements, those who want the achievements can simply not update.

Some people look at them that way, I’ve always looked at them as a game on top of a game... I never pay attention to them until I’ve finished the game, then I’ll browse the list and look at them as extra dev challenges, because a lot of times, that’s what they are... they give me more bang for my buck post game, so I’m all for that
I asked for more information about what's going on with the patch + GOG, unfortunately it doesn't look good:
We had a very tight budget to do this patch, and we really wanted to push as far as possible to serve the community.

Upgrading the engine version to optimize game performance and present a better experience to players created issues with the GOG SDK that we haven't been able to fix properly.

We have proposed to GOG to upload a version without the achievements (which were causing the most troubles), but they did not accept.
We thought we could do it, as we pushed Omensight without achievements for the same problem.

We finally ran out of time and had to move forward on our next project, and we closed the patch production cycle without GOG.

We are really sorry for the disappointment and we'd like to thank you very much for your understanding.
IMO it's silly for GOG to refuse the patch over such a minor feature as achievements :/ Especially considering the kind of improvements and fixes it brings.

I suggested the possibility of making it available under a separate library entry so that users can decide for themselves which to use (as has been done with a number of other games here already where significant changes have been made), but whatever happens will likely be up to GOG. I understand GOG doesn't like the idea of having to drop any features, but missing out on the patch entirely is even worse - and GOG already has a bad reputation when it comes to updates.

On the plus side the Steam version is DRM-free though.

Good info... and yah, I have the game on Steam as well, but really like to keep as many games as I can in Galaxy... reality is, though... there are and always will be some games that I'll have to come to grips with that "it's a Steam game" because of the flakiness of GOG on either issues like this or older games that will never see the patches Steam got... the first two SteamWorld games, etc.

Stories like this, though, always knock my love for GOG down several notches... they're wildly inconsistent with stuff like this (rejecting a game cause of no Achievements), cause look at Parkitect... just launched out of InDev, no Achievements but the Steam version has them... Return of the Obra Dinn, recent launch, no Achievements but the Steam version has them... so explain that one to us, GOG

Good to know it's DRM-free on Steam... I didn't even check myself, yet, to see if it would launch without Steam being open... I always keep any DRM-free games on Steam installed and just copy the game folder to a backup drive and keep a copy that way, updating when any updates hit

Oh... and regarding what the devs said about this... GOG needs to step up their work on Galaxy... really tired of games launching WITH Achievements but with no Overlay support because "the Overlay is not compatible"... ugh... they need to pump up the quality of the SDK and the tech behind the Overlay
