Kuzco1981: Marko I followed your instructions and the icon did show as green, but when I double click it nothing happens.
The same thing was happening to me until I launched the "dxwnd.exe" as administrator. That fixed the game not launching, but I am still getting the same issue from my initial post with movement/inputs stopping entirely after one action.

I am currently testing different settings in the wrapper MarkoH01 provided to see if anything changes.

It may be that the specific issue you are experiencing can not resolved by using the wrapper at all. What the wrapper does basically is just to circumvent incompatibilities with your GPU and the old DirectX version the game is using. The issues you posted seem to run a bit deeper. For me the game was totally playable but I simply could not see where my mouse is. This is a simple graphic issue but your issue has to do something with the gameplay istelf (freezing after interacting ect.). I sure hope that the wrapper still could help you but I very much doubt it.

Same here. So far no joy though :(

I just read your postings again. Didn't you experience the issue that your mose was vanishing or other issues as well? The vanishing mouse issue may be solved by using the wrapper. Try to use my config file as well and if it still does not work try to click different setting in the video tab. Since every GPU is different there may be a setting which could help you. My settings are from GTX960 and I am running Win7 (user contro -UAC - l is completely disabled since I hate it and it only leads to problems). Please tell me which card and OS you are using and what exactly your problem is after you used the wrapper. MAYBE I can still help you.

I'm using a GTX 580 on Windows 7. My problem is the same as before. The mouse pointer flickers like mad and I can use it once before it vanishes completely. The only exception is clicking the TV, which gives me an extra click, but I cant turn on the TV or navigate to a different area on the screen.

The issue is the same with or without the wrapper.

Did you use my config file?
If you hold a key (space i.e.) while moving the mouse can you play then?
same issue exactly like Kuzco1981. i got win7 with GTX 970.

I used MarkoH01's config file for the wrapper and still no good the mouse still flickers :( although the splash screen has the right colors now :P

holding a key (any key) makes the pointer visible but still flickering like crazy. after going right the game just freezes.

I couldn't get your config file to download. Holding down the mouse key makes the pointer more stable, but it still vanishes if I try to interact with anything. And the TV still wont turn on.

Where was the problem in downloading my config file? It's a simple google-drive download and should work without any problems. Did you get an error message?
You should hold down a key on the KEYBOARD and not on the nouse.

Well, for those who could not download the config file I've copied the content. Copy/Paste this in an editor and save it with the extension *.dxw (i.e. Titanic.dxw). Here is the content (path has to be edited to reflect your owg gamepath and executable):

Jumping in on this thread because I'm also in the same boat.... the dxwnd fix with the downloaded config file works great for the first screen, but as soon as I click one of the direction arrows my cursor disappears again!

Have been doing some troubleshooting with gog support but we haven't had any luck yet :/

Then a very warm welcome - even though this thread is not a happy one. It's strange: natluck does have a GTX970 and Win7 I have a GTX960 and Win7 - we probably both have the newest drivers so there shouldn't be much difference in how the wrapper behaves - but still there is :( It's also strange that some people are only having problems in seeing the mouse while for others the game is completeley freezing after clicking something. I am no support and I am just guesslíng like the rest of you but would it be possible that the user control from win7 could be problematic? I've deactivated UAC completely on my system because I hate being asked to confirm everything I want to do on my PC.

Maybe it is worth trying to deactivate UAC just to see if this helps? You may also try different versions of the wrapper which can be found here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/dxwnd/files/Latest%20build/.

Another testworthy thing would be to deactivate anti-virus (just for a moment of course). GOG support is also still working on this problem. If we all work together there should be a way to fix this for everybody.

Edit: I just read again every post in the thread.
The ones who were able to click the TV but are freezing when trying to turn on the TV: were you able to turn left or right? I am asking because it's possible to click the TV without turning - meaning playing animation - at all.

If the game freezes because of the walking or playing the video on TV this could be an issue with the video codec used to play the animations. This would be a well known bug in this game which many were able to fix by using another version of the cinepak codec: http://www.starshiptitanic.com/game/faq.html).

You may also try to set your desktop to 16Bit Colour mode before starting the game.

I've pretty given up on trying different settings. I think I've tried every combo under the sun and nothing has improved the situation in the slightest. Ironically before I installed the latest graphics driver, the mouse pointer was at least stable. It was after I updated the driver that it started flickering like mad.

Hopefully GoG will come up with a patch soon. I'm itching ti play this game :(

Have you tried all the things I wrote here? I am also waiting for an official patch but since you really want to play the game asap it could help to try the things I mentioned above. Especially:

"Maybe it is worth trying to deactivate UAC just to see if this helps?"

and

"The ones who were able to click the TV but are freezing when trying to turn on the TV: were you able to turn left or right? I am asking because it's possible to click the TV without turning - meaning playing animation - at all.

You also never did reply what happened if you hold down a KEY while playing (you also wrote about the MOUSE) and you never answered if you have ever tried my config settings.

To say it again: I am just asking these things because with more information I MIGHT be able to help further. Since I am not support I cannot guarantee that and of course everybody has the right to just give up. But if you really, really want to get this game to run you should try everything I suggested and post the results.

I did reply about the key I think. If I hold it down the mouse pointer stops flickering, at least until I click on the TV, then it goes completely flicker mad. If I click the TV I cant do anything else, turn the TV on, move to a different part of the room, nothing.

I never tried your config file.

EDIT: Just tried that codec pack you suggested. Copied and replaced the one in the game folder. No change to the game.

Regarding the "key" question: you answered that you held down a MOUSE BUTTON. Maybe this was a typo but that's why I asked again.

Regarding the codec: damn - could have been a solution since your problem could have to do something with the videos not playing. You say that the game freezes completely after clicking the TV. That is the moment were a video should be played and maybe that is what's causing your game to freeze.

Still I am interested if you were able to play any videos (moving (without clicking TV) and seeing the transition videos) and if you ever tried to deactivate windows UAC and/or virus-programs. I am just guessing here but sometimes I am lucky with my guesses ;)

And please try to use my config. That's why I posted its content here in plain text (don't forget to change the patch to the executable). Copy the in the windows clipboard, open notepad or another editor and paste it into a textfile. Rename the textfile so that it has the extension "dxw" and import it into the program as I told in a [url=http://www.gog.com/forum/starship_titanic/the_game_starts_but_i_cannot_interact_with_anything/post30]former post.
