Maxvorstadt: Where are the latest patches? Since 38647 here were some patches, but in my library it`s still the 38647, the newest patches are not available!

ashdar_games_inc: November 2019 (38647) is the latest 'stable' patch. However, there are more recent "in_development" patches that you can get access to, if you want to be on the bleeding edge. It does require using GoG Galaxy though. Inside Galaxy, goto "Manage installation"->"Configure"->"Beta Channels" and select "in_development".

If you find any bugs while playing on the in_development branch, please report them on the Stars in Shadow testing forum.
Ah, thanks for the info. So the newer versions are rather unstable and experimental? Hm, I guess that I`ll wait until the next stable version comes out. Also, I`m not too fond of Galaxy, I don`t use it.

Yeah, as a general rule, when I mess with any of the deep systems of the game, things often get worse before they get better. The build that's up on "in_development" as of today mostly contains minor bug fixes and optimizations, so it's probably not too dangerous. But, we're working on some fairly sweeping updates to AI behaviors and terraforming mechanics, and when that stuff starts going in, the game will probably do quirky things for a while, until we (and the bleeding edge testers) have worked out most of the bugs.

The "stable" builds are what we expect most people to play on.

I see there's a new patch out 38753 but I don't have GOG galaxy (opted out when I installed last Christmas). I'm not on Steam either. How/where do I download the latest stable build to run in place of the current 38647?

Great game, especially on the larger galaxy sizes (duking it out with 20+ dread stars and 100+ ships against the harpies is cool; I usually use galaxies of 250 stars; being able to arrange ships pre-battle would be a nice add if you're looking for ideas).

I believe if you go to https://www.gog.com/account, you should see an option to "view downloads" for Stars in Shadow. Then you can click "download offline backup game installers".

These installers usually get updated a few days after we post a patch to Galaxy/Steam. Sometimes there will be a "Patch" file that you can download that will upgrade your current build to the latest build. But, sometimes you just need to download all the game files again from scratch.

That said, I'm looking at the offline installers now, and it looks like they haven't been updated to include the latest patches. I'll ask my contacts at GoG.com about that...

Edit: I talked to the GoG people, and they fixed it. The offline installers should now be up to date.
