I've never played this game(s) before, do they have a lot of randomness or perma death or something that makes it more like a roguelike? I really like those type of games.

Also 2nd question does it have merchants(buying/selling) in the game?

Thanks for any feedback :)

Starflight 1: Roguelike? Not really. You do have figure out how to save your game. I just copy and paste the folder and rename it just like I would name a saved game.

Merchants? Not really. You have Starport to buy almost everything you bring home, like minerals and artifacts. One race of aliens likes to wheel and deal, trading Endurium (fuel) for artifacts and one particular element they are interested in.

Starflight 2: Roguelike? No. They have a save-game system.

Merchants? Yes! You can buy and sell various trade goods. A lot of them you even get to haggle the prices, which makes it kind of fun!

Sorry for the long response time - I finally found the topic and it is a very old game and the forum in not very active.

No problem. So the real answer is no - not a roguelike.
