rkinkjr: Hello. Happy holidays everyone. Any new update on the Star Destroyer. Looking forward to getting killed by it.
Surfacing is ongoing (sneak peak ) below. :)

damson: I was on a test team for Wing Commander Saga - I even got a cameo in one misison ;).

FekLeyrTarg: That I can confirm.
Good to see you. :)
Hey man, good to see you too. I've seen some models you did for this project, great work!

damson: Hey Azrapse, do you still recruit testers? I could help test your mod - I have some experience as a beta tester. I was on a test team for Wing Commander Saga - I even got a cameo in one misison ;). I also played the hell out of X-Wing and Tie Fighter back in good old DOS era and I still comeback mostly to Tie Fighter thanks to DOSBox (Tie Fighter Collector's CD-ROM is the way to go). I have 3 PC configs (AMD/Intel CPU, NV/AMD GPU, Win7/10) I can test it on with 3 different HOTAS setups, Track IR, and an XBox controller.

Best regards.
We aren't currently recruiting testers.
But if we will announce here if we are looking for more people.

Roger that. Will stand-by waiting for someone to press SHIFT-S ;)
Sorry of no updates on the transport, was busy about more than month, just didn't have time... Hope to find some soon
Unsure about any interest or not, but I'm still here. Just in case =)

Lower part of the transport is still a bit "raw", but overally I plan to leave it as it looks now. I've added certainly a noncanonical landing gear in front of the ship - when I've tried to think on what part this one would land, it looked that would be the front cannons. Something told me that doesn't look OK :) I'll try to make it not that obvious when detailing lower part of the ship. It is now 15K tris, but I'll make some optimizations at the end, it would eat about 3-4K

Seeing progress about this project made my day, furthermore the transport is looking really nice, I'd love to escort it to a safer place.

It looks really nice. Do you have plans to texture it?

I look at the last page at this forum and moddb twice a week. I occasionally look at Trello, and search the xwau forum too.
Any update to this projct puts me closer to the controls of any craft in the sw universe than any idea Disney or EA have in mind right now.

There is interest. I'm sure I'm not alone...

Thank you, and thank you to the rest of the team.

There is more activity on our Facebook group, and Discord server.
We don't have a release date, because there is some work that needs to be done before we can even publish a little demo, and we can only put our free time onto this project.
We don't discuss the nature of this required work in public because it attracts undesirable activity and posts of the "gloom and doom" kind. But I bet you get the idea of what I am talking about.
to Azrapse and other devs, (maybe this forum is not the place, but I didn't knew how to contact you about this request)

I already said I would love to help and be part of your team. I was wondering what could I do that you don't already have and what I could do to be useful. Maybe it's not in your plans to introduce other languages, but I could translate to spanish.
Not only I'm a big fan who started to play xw when it was realeased, I was so young I didn't even knew english, because I'm Spain native, so I learned a lot playing. It's obvious that I'm also a bit fan so if I may I'd love to help you with that.

PS: Even if you reject me on this, I still think what you're doing is amazing.

Best regards fellow pilots

Azrapse: It looks really nice. Do you have plans to texture it?
Thanks... To be honest, if it is possible, I would leave it to someone from your team. Reason: I didn't make textures specifically for the games at all. I've made textures, but for visualization only. I don't even know how to make unwrap (yeah, working in 3dsmax since 1997 and do not know it :)).

As for my vision of it, I would optimize the model, so it ready to be textured or at least as close to it as it could be and leave you the model. Or I don't really know how to make all this so everyone would not be upset with my work... Or I don't know then, we would need to figure that out.

As for the model itself, I think it is now close to being completed. It is 17K without any optimizations now. If you think I should alter something or add detail here and there, just tel - I may not properly look at the work I'm doing and maybe doing somethig wrong.

Yes, I remember you told me you don't really like such models to be 15-17K tris (even, as I told, I'll remove some backfacing and so on, so it would make the model 2-3K lower on tris), but as for that - I don't know. If you think there must be some parts that should be able to be toren apart if the ship is destroyed, also - just tell. I think there must be separate object for the front LG for animation purposes and maybe separate engines... Sorry, I've made this post in a bit haste since I need to go. Just uploading the bottom view with the updated model

We encourage everyone that wants to contribute models to our project to contact us first before even starting working on them because we have some particular constraints and requirements that models have to meet to be of any use for us.
I am not sure if we have told this story here, but some years ago we saw ourselves in the situation that 3 or 4 different people had started to work independently on the same model without telling us or collaborating between them. So we eneded up with 4 people each offering us their own made Lambda-class shuttle model.
Since then, we elaborated this document: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1paGzo83dohy2R1RO6xxONWsHSeA-RXdJhxQb1E71sGM/edit?usp=sharing where people can check which assets we have, which are already in progress, and which are still needed.
We got a transport model kindly donated by the Fate of the Galaxy project team. The model has some issues with geometry and needed some work to fit our standards, so our "in house" 3d experts put it on the pile of work to do to review the model and assess how much work would it need, then do it.

Soon after this was the first time you offered your model, that was already halfways done. Honestly, I find the looks of your model outstanding. But we are again in the situation of having several people kindly offering their work to us for free and we having to decide what is similar to when your parents asked you "Who do you love most: daddy or mommy?" :S
Since both are still at a stage that aren't totally matching our needs, we are yet undecided of which will we end up using.
If yours is closer to meet the geometry requirements than the FotG one, we might opt for yours (even if it comes untextured). It depends very much on the amount of work that our 3D experts have to dedicate to them, since they are already overworked.
It would help if you could send us a download link to the current state of the model so that they can have a look at it and make some comments of towards where you should focus. Is that a possibility?

Thanks for your offer of help.
We have plans to implement a localization system so that people can create and share the translation files for their own languages.
It's not trivial because the game builds up sentences dynamically based on events, amount of ships, ship types, etc that require a bit more advanced translation system than just a mapping of words for most languages.
We already have some Spanish speaker in the team that would take care of creating the localization file in that language. Similar to your backstory, he also learned most of the English he knows by playing TIE Fighter. :)

Do you have any 3D modelling or artistic skill, or some programming background?

I do have programming knowledge from computing college. I ended working to communications networks but I can give it try remembering my practices and even ask my partners for some help. I can always decline later if what you show me seems too hard, but I'd love to test myself here if you want me to.
