Hi all,

We've updated the Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance installer again (setup_sw_xwing_alliance_2.0.0.9 is the new file!). Please download this new installer at your earliest convenience in order to get the following fixes:

XWA_DDRAW 1.3:

Fix concourse 3D scale
Fix distorded starfield
Fix distorded map grid
Fix missing parts on concourse screenshots

Thanks and have a nice day :)
Thanks to JeremyaFr for the fast update of the ddraw.dll and thanks to GOG for the fast provision of installer updates.

It looks like the skirmish problem, which hasn't even been reported over here, has been fixed too.

Sweet, all I want left is to wait and add the XAW Update Craft pack for the game now, would like to check that out.

Mano,

I tested the original pack (XWAUCPv1.0.exe) and the starfield pack (DTMSBv1.0.exe) and they work just fine, just an ocasional crash during loading.

Alternatively you can get the mods singularly and install them one after the other. Just takes some time, because there are ~100 files!

The XWAU Craft Pack v1.0 cannot be installed without the discs and is no longer available, the DTM's Super Backdrops pack is working fine but already included with the XWAU Craft Pack v1.1, which should be updated and put online soon.
They haven't removed the locked 800x600 resolution though, but this can be achieved using Reimar's XWA Hacker, using the noforce800mode.bat

Just a Note Reimar released a new version of XWA Hacker v2.5, or you can download a NEW GUI version which is easier to use than all the *.bat files
Just a question, can I just run the installer and have the game updated or do I need to uninstall and then reinstall? Because with the previous one I'm not sure whether it worked, I still get pretty big 3D models during briefings, though I don't really care.

Just overwrite the previous install, it should do the job.
do I lose my savegame if you just overwrite the game?

The savegame is the pilot file (xxxx.plt), and it shouldn't be affected when doing this. If you are worried, just make a backup of the file and copy it back to the game folder once you are done.

I don't have any issues with the 1.1 craft pack and backgrounds. Get the odd crash loading the mission (about 1 in 10), but once I'm in mission it is a thing of beauty.

Since I've updated the game, I haven't been able to use the XWAU because it crashes every time I get into a ship. I've downloaded all the XWAU files individually and it crashed, and now I just reinstalled the game and only downloaded the rebel ship files to test it out. Crashes once I'm in the hangar.

The Craft Update Pack authors have pulled the update temporarily until those issues can be solved. Downloading the files individually won't fix the problem. Don't install any of that until they fix it.
Unfortunately, all attempts at updating this game, down to a fresh download and install have STILL left me with version 2.0.2.
