Update

KOTOR2: Fix a bug occuring if the installer is located in a path with spaces in directories names
I ran the installation script and now I have a tiny window where I can't click on any options. It displays the LucasArts logo in full-screen, but then scales down.

I'm running Mint 17.2 Cinnamon, 64-bit. Tried starting Kotor from the "Start menu".

The first thing to try would be to run the game in a virtual desktop.

1. To open the WINE configuration window, run one of the following command from a console:
KotOR: 'kotor-winecfg'
KotOR 2: 'kotor2-winecfg'

2. In the configuration window, go on the "Graphics" tab;

3. Check "Emulate a virtual desktop", and put your desktop resolution in the "Desktop size" fields;

4. Close the window with "OK".

Then run the game again, and come back to tell us if it helped with your problem ;)

Thanks. My laptop is out of commission but I'll give this a try when it's up and running again. :)
Update - KotOR 2

Support added for Arch Linux and derivatives.
Update

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Script has been updated to ./play.it 2.x, bringing Arch Linux and Gentoo support amongst other nice improvements.
The scripts are a bit outdated and still use the file names from before the May 2019 update.

Thanks for the reminder ;)

I think we already have an updated script under testing for the first KotOR, and I’m going to try to find some time to update the one for KotOR2 soon.

Thank you.
We currently have a script under testing that adds support for the German version of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

The discussion page on our forge: Game update: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Add support for new archives and german version
A direct download link: play-star-wars-knights-of-the-old-republic-1.sh

Test reports would be most welcome, and would help bringing it quicker to a stable version shared on our website.

Hi and thanks for your efforts. I tried the updated script on KotOR using 64-bit Debian 10 (buster). The integrity check went fine, but it gives an error about the innoextract version being to old. The version on Debian 10 is 1.7-2+b1. If I am reading libplayit2.sh right, it wants a version >= 1.7. I'm thus not sure why it triggers this error. Would love to continue testing if you update the script to fix the error. Please let me know if you need more info here, as I may not take the time to register and create bug reports.

The current gog.com installers for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic ("setup_star_wars_-_knights_of_the_old_republic_1.03_(german)_(29871).exe" + "setup_star_wars_-_knights_of_the_old_republic_1.03_(german)_(29871)-1.bin") can only be extracted using an innoextract version ≥ 1.8.

On Debian we don’t have access to this version yet, but innoextract author provides us with a repository giving access to version 1.8. In the following instructions, you only need to replace "Debian_7.0" by "Debian_10": https://constexpr.org/innoextract/install#debian

If you do not want to add a new repository to your system, you can use this direct download link and install the .deb package with dpkg: innoextract_1.8-0.1_amd64.deb
