General Troubleshooting
-----------------------

1. black screen / crash on launch:

- Before starting the game, change video resolution to your desktop one (or the closest match). if that fails, try falling back to 1024x768. Video settings can be found under GOG Galaxy HERE
-- or in Start Menu HERE.

- Close any unnecessary applications running in the background, especially ones overlay-based like EVGA Precision, MSI Afterburner, GeForce Experience, FRAPS etc.

- If running multiple screen setup, try switching to a single monitor.

If none of the above helps, please send your DxDiag to our Support team HERE. The more information we have, the easier it will be to pinpoint the problem.

2. Controllers
- connect (turn on if wireless) your controller before starting the game
- start the game, go to Settings->Joystick Settings
- set Joystick to Enable
- press Default to fill controls with standard mapping or configure them manually

-------------
May the Force serve you well.

I just tested Racer on my laptop with intel Graphics and it works perfectly at 1600x900, while it crashes on my desktop with Nvidia graphics at 1080p, so I belive the issue may lie with nvidia?
Yeah, just as a general update, I've tried every fix I've seen recommended here, along with some random ones on the internet, and nothing. I really hope this isn't some nvidia problem.
I have two mouse cursors :/
One of the game, one of my system.. can I change that ?

The game is giving me "Joystick not detected" when I try and toggle the button. I've restarted with the controller checked but still no luck. Any advice?
have the rdroid_gnome release build crash at startup. Tried rebooting and switching res too: no luck.

Try this:

DemoniCEVL: The only way so far I've gotten it to at least start without immidiately giving an rdroid_gnome error is by deleting the ddraw.dll file in the game's folder.

However, the colors and graphics are so messed up then that the game is hardly playable.

Reducing colors, lowering resolution, various compatibility modes, none of it worked.
Try dgVoodoo http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2.html

You might have to rightclick on SWEP1RCR.EXE and disable all compatibility options to make it work.
If they are greyed out first click on "Change settings for all users" or something similar.

I'm getting a "Joystick not detected" message when I try to enable the joystick. I have a 360 pad connected that works with other games. Any fix?
Sadly both mouse fixes are not working ...

I have solved my crashing issues on my Nvidia Desktop by unplugging my 2nd monitor, disabling it does not work, it must be unplugged

now playing at 1080p :D

also I think it's important to limit the fps to 60 using nvidia inspector or another tool

What did it say when you installed it?

teleguy:
nothing, I have to admit that I tried it on my Mac (with wine/ playonmac)
and I will try that solution on my PC on Friday where I have the same issue.
So I should keep quiet until then ;)

I can't enable force feedback with Xbox One Controller.
Might be useful for some :

- Having two screens enabled caused the game to crash to desktop at ~1/4th of the loading bar
- Having Discord running (and being in a voice channel) caused the game to crash to desktop at ~1/4th of the loading bar
- Having an Xbox One controller plugged in via USB caused the game to hang indefinitely while loading

I was able to launch the game and play normally (on keyboard) after quitting Discord, disabling the 2nd monitor, and unplugging the controller.

Worked only after the initial install last night.

Booted PC this evening after work, rdroid_gnome error. Disappointing to see it's not been fixed still, hopefully it's patched soon or I'll be seeking a refund.

EDIT: There is no permanent fix I've found. Using -v and changing resolution is temperamental, after five or so changes it randomly works for ONE run, then the next time you load it, same issue. Running video card set-up repeatedly just to get a single play isn't very good.

I'm having a very peculiar issue where I can't select anything.
The game starts, and I can't skip the cutscene no matter what I do. Then, a few minutes later, when the cutscene ends, I arrive at the main menu. I can highlight selections with my mouse, and with the arrow keys, but nothing I press works to select them.
My drivers are up to date, I've disconnected all controllers, and I'm running Win 10; any help?
