Just saw the update that went live yesterday on Steam and wondering if it will make its way to GOG...
I hope so. Fingers crossed
I doubt it because the Steam Version Multiplayer runs off the Steam Servers I think!

I don't think so, since there's a player hosting a game and the guests connect to it. I think it is a de-centralized connection, so everyone can be a server or a client for a game. It should work with GOG as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, please.
Even if it doesn't, you can still play online using GameRanger.
They also claim to have "fixed several graphical and stability issues"... That should be made available in GOG's version as well.
Why is there no word from any of the GOG team members about this?

At minimum, if there's bugfixes is the main game, those SHOULD be provided to GOG customers...

And the game does have multiple bugs, notably in the stability department.

It's a feature, not a bug

Sorry, couldn't resist ;)

And yes might be nice to get it. Depends if there will be a string attached to it or not.

It's up to the developers or publishers to provide it, not GOG.
I think it is clear:

Players will soon be able to seamlessly connect via Valve's Steam™ service and play in multiplayer land, space, and galactic battles as they did a decade ago. In addition, several compatibility issues were fixed, and an in-game interface for mod support has been included to support the Steam Workshop.

So looks like only steam.....not on GOG

Me thinks it would also depend on the number being sold here on GOG as:
With over 6.7 million copies sold to date, Star Wars: Empire at War is the best-selling and most popular Star Wars™ game available on Steam.
Considering the update that just came to Battlefront 2 for both platforms, would like to see something similar for Empire at War.

At the very least, want the fixes made to the Steam version as a thing for GOG's.
Hope it will come - especially for fixes implemented
So did this Multiplayer update ever come to GOG, or did GOG users get shafted again?

Petroglyph had an AMA on /r/RealTimeStrategy last night, so I asked them what gives.

This is what they said:

It really came down to timing and team availability. The people that were able to donate their time to the patch had a good amount of Steam API integration experience. Because this was something unfunded, we couldn't go and hire or pull people off other projects to build a free patch to support GoG at the time. In addition, it was simply easier (for them) to map the old SteamSpy functionality over to Steam versus GoG.

If we end up in a situation where we have available resources to make a GoG version, we'll look into that too.
