So, i cant find how to intall mods for the GoG version anywhere, can someone help? or at least link to a page where i can learn?

to install, there are normally readme files attached.

Normally you extract to like:

D:\GOGGames\Star Wars - Empire At War Gold\EAWX\Mods\Imperial_Civil_War

and then you would need in D:\GOGGames\Star Wars - Empire At War Gold\EAWX a bat-file containing like:
swfoc LANGUAGE=ENGLISH MODPATH=Mods\Imperial_Civil_War

so ive downloaded a few mods, and i still cant figure out how to install them, if you or anyone who has installed mods, can you just go through the steps of installing a mod? sorry im dumb lol

Which mods did you download? Might be easier this way, as I could then tell you precisely what to do ;)

i downloaded Z3r0x's mod, republic at war, and i think the covenant at war. i would like to try Z3r0x's mod most

Z3r0x's from where did you get it, can't download it from empireatwar.filefront.com, just get a timeout.

So for republic at war (really easy one)

you shall have downloaded a 1.5 GByte file, use 7zip (http://www.7-zip.org/) to extract it to any place you like. afterwards (you could read the readme ;) you start the republic at war.exe, this is a normal installer, click install, next, accept the license agreement, next, typical, install, delete temp, finish. check on your desktop shall be a shortcut now, doubleclick to start. If you want to play in another language (so not English) let me know ;)

Just for sake of it, please mark (I would suggest post 8) as solution, so if somebody else looks for this info they can find directly the answer ;)

If you open with left windows key + e an explorer and you go to your D:\GOGGames\Star Wars - Empire At War Gold\EAWX directory. (or whatever it is on your install ;) )

do a right click in the right hand folder and select: New -> text document

(now depending on your settings you might first have to do the following: Alt + V (or selecting view on the menu, properties, View, deselect hide extension for known file-types, meaning it will show xxx.TXT or xxx.BAT)

Open the newly created file for editing (best right click on the file and choose edit) and copy/paste this string into the file and save it.

Afterwards rename the file too CaW.bat

Afterwards you can start your mod by just double-clicking on this bat file.

If you already have a bat file in there it is easier to just copy it. (you can save yourself the hassle of changing the options....;)

Just FYI: A bat file is a special file telling the computer to execute certain commands, so in this case, start the exe swfoc with language Englisch and the path mods\CaW

This step you will have to do for each mod, so that the computer knows which mod to use ;)

So in your case you will need like 3 bat files....

I just downloaded Empire at War: FOC and am running it through my mac via Porting Key :)
I'd like to install Republic at War mod for it but am struggling to understand where the files would go and .bat files having a mac. The program runs great through Porting Key, but getting a Mod to work isn't haha
Any help would be appreciated!

bat files will not work natively on Mac. Porting key? Don't know this one, got a link? ;)

If my assumption is correct, you would also just need to create a subfolder in your empire-directory called mods, extract the RAW files into there (they do have a zip version of RAW as well) and change the startup line you use for starting swfoc with the parameters:

swfoc LANGUAGE=ENGLISH MODPATH=Mods\RAW

RAW, if you called the subdirectory RAW, otherwise replace ;)

Can anyone help me with installing any mod? I've tried to follow steps mentioned above, but it's still not working. I would like to install Awakening of the Rebelion mod
