awjbos: snip.
Really, you're whining that it doesn't work on a technical preview of Windows 10.

Yeah Im kinda confused. Is he saying that it not working on just a Window 10 build, or is it on all Window 7/8/10 build?

Unfortunately I have to agree a bit to the OP: My system:

WinXP (32Bit), DirectX9.0c, Core2Duo at 3Ghz, NVidia GTX650 Ti (newest driver) w/ 1GB VRAM;, 4GB RAM

Game runs but no possibility to run it in HW accelerated mode (screen is scrambled in game) just like with the retail game or the demo. Will try it on Win7 but according to the gamecard it should also run on WinXP and here they did not exclude HW accelerated mode (yet).

This is a rubbish post. Windows 10 is still in beta as far as i am concerned and gog is not supporting it at this moment.

This version of Jedi Knight Actually does work on the majority of systems as first tests would point out. On my systems (win 7) The game runs flawlessly in 3D mode with music and fullscreen movies. And that was not the case with the steam version.

The only downside at the moment is that I can't mod the game yet.

SO IT DOES WORK AS IT SHOULD AND MOST PEOPLE WHO DO NOT HAVE WIN8 OR WIN10 WILL PROBABLY HAVE ZERO ISSUES (unless it's an issue inherent with the game).

Try the 'Disable Desktop Composition" in the compatabilty tab of the game shortcut Marko.

That fixed the scrambling in hardware mode for me one of my PC's. That is really one thing they should have set by default.

There's no magic wand to make these old games work on every system, they can only do so much with it

awjbos: Because GOG has done nothing to modify the game to fix the graphics problems, users that already have graphics issues will have the SAME issues with the GOG release.

SOME users will have no issues with this release. However a majority will experience graphics problems that have been widely reported with this game.

In other words this game is broken for most modern systems, and GOG appears to have made no fixes for graphics.

I need a response from the GOG team to better understand what changes they have made. This game has a significant following and the community is currently trying to understand how this release impacts the future of the game with respect to any changes or modifications they have made in this release.
But you only tested it on Window 10 which is still in beta or alpha, not on 7 or 8. You can't just test it on Window 10 and jump to the conclusion that since it did not work on 10 then it won't on 7 and 8.

If you read the requirement then it says it works XP/7/8 (although 8 does not support hardware mode) and vista, there nothing there saying that it will run in Window 10.

This option does not exist on windows XP but I tried every checkbox there and it did not help. Here is how my game looks:

That's not true since this works a lot better then my steam version. I feel very sorry that it didn't fix your issues. God knows I played through the game in an inferior version a lot grinding my teeth (stupid steam version). First reports were mostly positive that indeed the game works better or even perfect with gog instead of steam. I bought it and can also confirm that is the case so they must have changed something. If anything at this point it seems to be the minority that still has issues or people with unsupported OS. Scaring people like this thread is just not cool since at this point there is not enough proof if it's true.

If only i can get JKE working with this everything will be perfect on my end.

Sorry I didn't notice your OS until a moment ago. It seems to work fine on my Windows XP rig but I have ATI hardware. I noticed on my Windows XP only I see an "advanced" button on the bottom of video settings in-game. Maybe fooling with some settings in there will help

I have the same problem on Win XP SP3 with a Geforce GT 610. It makes X-Wing Alliance unplayable for me as well.
As with the latter game, the problems are caused by the newest NVIDIA drivers that discard some of the old renderer components necessary to make the engine/game run properly. That, and compatibility issues with DX11 cards and WIn XP. A lesson I sadly had to learn and accept..
With the fan patches and GOG fixes, it should be playable on Win Vista and up with Nvidia Hardware, as stated by others.
It does work in Software mode up to 1280x1024 though.

I just tried it with Win7 and there it runs without any problem in full HD (something I could not do with the retail version because of a missing menu so GOG DID fix something). Yes, I thought that the problem is a result of the combination XP/NVidia card which needs a newer driver. I was thinking of writing a mail to NVidia because this problem occurs on many old 3D hardware accelerated games and the problem does not seem to occur on Win7 so I don't see why it has to occur on winXP.

Edit: After writing an e-mail to NVidia Support (could not harm) I tested one last thing and it works. The game runs in HW accelerated mode on my Windows XP system. I just extracted the content of this

into my gaming directory (thanks to teleguy).

For the love of God please stop repeating the same tired rubbish ad-nauseam. The simple facts of the matter are this:
Windows 10 is not listed as a supported OS. (You really do need to update your build by the way, that one's obsolete)
Direct3D 6 (or so) is incompatible with modern GPUs. The GOG team would have to re-write the entire rendering engine to support DirectX 10+ and since most of these old games relied upon tricks to actually pull off effects then these things would be lost.
If your CPU cannot handle running a game released in 1997 via software mode then you must be running a x486 and need to get off the internet.
