Just gave 25th Anniversary a try and it really feels like getting back into a pair of comfortable shoes again, but with at least one exception.

One error I have encountered so far is with the sound in the 'going to warp' sequence, as if a few music tones are missing so to speak.

Anyone here know what could cause it?

At least for me, the warping sequence is running much faster than the rest of the game, which causes the sound to skip as well.
In the DOSBox config file, check if the cycle speed is set to max.

If so, change it to

fixed 10000

That should work fine for a VGA 386 era game.

If the game feels a bit slow, try 15000 or 20000.

I'm not sure why GOG keeps using cycle max, this is known to bug out any game with speed sensitivity issues.
Better now, thanks philscomputerlab. The game however still seems to run unusual fast, or my memories of it are not what they used to be.

Try a lower setting then. 6000 is roughly on the level of a 386DX with 33 MHz. What PC did you play it on back in the day?
I ran it on one of the early pentiums, basically having skipped the 386 and 486

Edit; I may have to revise my reaction; it seems that the combat sequence at the start is very fast when running on 10000 but the rest of the game runs on a smooth pace and really suffers here and there when I slow it down.
Perhaps DOSbox is not at fault here.

Walking for example took very long on my old computer while it is running much more smooth now.

As for the sound, sometimes it runs well and sometimes now and I do wonder if it could have something to do with choosing the wrong location when sending the Enterprise to another star system. (music not running right when you go for the wrong place)
