The game worked fine with the Complete mod.
But I can't manage to start the game with Autumn Aurora 2.1. I keep getting the error "XR_3DA.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION" after the game logo.
I tried running it as administrator, I tried different compatibility modes, didn't change a thing. This mod requires the 1.006 version which is the one provided by GOG so I don't think it is necessary to downgrade.
Any clue how to solve this?

Rodo62:
Did you do a CLEAN reinstall of the game - you usually have to if changing mods - and thats a common cause of that specific crash if I remember correctly.
Secondly. make sure you're not loading a save from the prior mod install (and maybe delete quicksaves / autosaves).

Yes I did a clean install.
And the game don't even launch. I just see the Stalker logo, then blackscreen and back to the desktop.

Is your fsgame.itx file setup for mod use properly? - ive also seen this crash when people have the file set for mods, but dont have any installed, so theres maybe something not right in there?

- and did the bugtrap generate a report? - last three or four lines should tell you the problem if so.

Edit: if you can find said report, feel free to share as it may help sort your issue. :)

Yes I have changed both variable to true in fsgame.ltx in this line:
$game_data$ = true | true | $fs_root$ | gamedata\

thats not the report I meant. there should be another (more complete) one generated under:

C:\Users\Public\Documents - and a folder either called SoC, SHoC or Stalker etc

you should also get some option to view this when the xray bugtrap thing come up - though I dont remember it being very clearly marked. you'll know when you see the info I need as it will be marked with:

FATAL ERROR

(sorry, would have been more specific, but dont have stalker installed right now - need to redownload the installer).

However, with someof the errors you have there, I get the impression maybe something was left over from the prior modding - but until I see the proper log report...

Edit: and

post 12 here may be worth a look depending on what the log says: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/540331-stalker-shadow-of-chernobyl/46070154?page=1

I tried the solution from the gamefaq forum but it was unsuccessful.

Yes there is a bug-trap window. Looks like there is a problem saving the log in a file so I had to copy paste from the preview window.

yeah its the error log file from C:\Users\Public\Documents[Soc folder] that I'll need to see - for some reason the bug trap window ones not generating the fatal error part.

i'll be online for a couple of hours at the least - and again tomorrow, and the day after etc

In the SoC Folder there is only the text I copy-pasted 2 messages above. And a .MDMP file. Can you open this one?
Thank for your help btw!

I can open it with text pad, but thats no good as thats a file for the devs really (all symbols and junk). You are checking under the path I said arent you? - just want to check.

Having googled on it there should be a folder called "logs" on that path if bugtrap has generated a report at all.

if its not there, then I'm gonna have to message Dez and see if he has any ideas (well known SoC modder), but it could be a few days before he gets back to me I'm afraid.

Also, you've probably tried all these things, but to be sure:

- multitude of different things that worked. Maybe also (if on win 7 at least) try logging into the "http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-windows-vista/" - as thats fixed borky games for me, or try adding the exe to the list of DEP exceptions (another thing often worth trying).

I have finaly managed to save the log file : https://mega.nz/#!JBtjAC7L!L4TU-uu4cgw0MKpbRLy2_myLiYqSy-I8YX29VlJRxso
Thanks for these links, I have already tried all of them but the last one. Gonna try now

Well, I'm kinda stumped - theres no "stack trace", "FATAL ERROR" or anything there - so the engine isnt launching properly (I guess). Theres also an awful lot of this:

"sv reject. id_parent [1737][stalker:gar_hellcar_group_2] id_entity [1738][device_pda:device_pda1738] [2542]
cl setDestroy [17954][2543]"

...which suggests to me something is not right with the mod, or the install, or both.

On that (and perhaps shedding some light), did the mod come as an exe or did you manually install - and - is there by any chance a launcher in the mod folder, or some form of localisation option?

I'll ask my modding mates if they know anything, but my best suggestion on the whole is to contact GOG support and / or the mod creator.

* * * * *

Actually, on that - http://www.moddb.com/mods/autumn-aurora-compilation-mod - seems Cromm is the creator, so you'll be able to ask on moddb and get an answer (they're in the dez0wave team also) as they are very active there and definately know what they are on about! :)

Well the mod came as an exe inside a rar. I followed the procedures given in the readme file.
Maybe the rar was somehow corrupted. I am gonna DL it again maybe it will fix the issue.

Possibly, yeah. Like I said though - best to ask on the moddb page as Cromm is very active and will figure out what your issue is no doubt.

Let us know how it goes though

So I have tried to download it again. Same result..
I should ask Cromm as you said.
Thanks for your help again!
