I loaded up a campaign savegame today after playing for a couple of hours last night. I'd just finished the tutorial and the first map, and was feeling pretty good about myself.
So, today, I loaded up my saved game and discovered that the map I spent an hour or two scouting out was now completely black, except for the places in which I had soldiers, buildings or bindstones. I find that a bit odd. Is that supposed to happen?

Yes, that's the way it works.
They never managed to fix that in Spellforce. I think they did solve that issue in Spellforce 2, but that's not really a great help, i know :)

Yes, this is correct. The fog of war only dissipates while there and when you come back the areas where you do not have units are black once again.
However, nothing new spawns there so it is not like baddies are waiting for you in the dark.
Bloody unresolveable glitches... Thanks, everyone.

Well, if you don't mind using the console there's a workaround.
I never bother with consoles and cheats, but in this case i don't think it can be considered as cheating since i only use this to clear the fog of war on maps that i have already explored.
So while on a map:
CTRL and "+" - opens the console
UnExplored:Enable (0) - This uncovers the map
Esc - to close the console
I didn't post this sooner cause i just found out about it.
