Hi

I recently got Spellfoce 1 and 2 on GoG. So I decided to start with first game. But it is not working for me. Game downloads and installs fine. But I can't run it. When I run it, I get black screen, and if I click with mouse or use space I will get typical program not responding from Windows.

OS: Windows 10 x64.
CPU: AMD Athlon II x4 651 3Ghz
RAM: 8GB
GPU: Geforce 960 GTX (Asus Strix)
Resolution: 1280x1024

I checked and GoG states game should work on Win 10. So that should be fine. I know it does not support widescreen resolutions, but as I read biggest supported is 1280x1024, so I should be fine here.

I did try to run game in compatibility mode with Win XP, Vista and 7. I also tried to run it in windowed mode via "-window" switch. I ran it from GoG Galaxy and game folder. I ran it as administrator. In compatibility with Win XP it won't freeze, but it will stay with black screen.

I have only one display and only one GPU. Still did try to tweak settings via nVida control panel, restored it back to default state, since it did not work.

I did try that widescreen resolution exe, but it did not work, so deleted it and replaced it back with original from GoG.

Also waiting does not help, did try waiting for 5min and no success. Had to terminate it via task manager.

Windows and drivers are fully updated to latest version. Game came without any DirectX or other installations, so I could not install that, in case it uses any special version.

I did try to check config file but game did not create one, I only got this log file:

So does anyone else have any idea about what I could try to run it. Or any other place I should ask at? I apologize, if this is wrong place.
Found an issue. I have BitDefender installed and it was causing issue, I can run game if I disable BD. Also had to run it in compatibility mode with Windows XP to make it work. Works fine with that. Adding it to exclusion on BD did not help, it has to be disabled to play.

So unless anyone else has any other ideas, I guess I will take computer offline and disable BD while playing it.

EDIT: Found solution to BD issue without uninstalling it. I had to add "SpellForce.exe" and "ar.exe" both to "Excluded files and folders" and "Excluded processes" in BitDefender(BF -> Modules -> Antivirus -> Exclusions). Also added game folder to excluded files and folders, not sure if necessary. And now I can actually play it with BD enabled. Also don't forget to turn "Exclusions for files" to on, because it is off by default. I think you need it to even add files.

Just in case anyone else has same issue.
