I know certain SNK games come with their respective ROMs'. However, I would like to know if the NeoGeo BIOS are included as well. Are they included, or do I have to provide NeoGeo BIOS myself if I want to legally emulate the games I plan on buying? Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: Certain games do have the ROM's and BIOS. For example, with the game: "The Last Blade" you need to download the MAC version from the "Goodies" section and the ROM's and NeoGeo BIOS will be there. Plus you can unzip the ROM's and BIOS to back to Windows and put them in the emulator of your choosing.

Well I only have The Last Blade from SNK's games on GOG so far (as I would love to get the sequel here if it ever becomes available), so can't confirm the rest. But The Last Blade doesn't come with lastblad.zip nor neogeo.zip (bios files required for that game), so you can't just move the files to your emulator of choice and play it that way. However in the game files it appears as it contains some of the bios and content files, but they are unpacked and/or repacked (different naming and sizes), which makes them incompatible with emulators I've tried. Whether it is just the case with Last Blade or other games too, I don't know.

In comparison, humble bundle builds of a couple of NeoGeo games I have does come with an easy to handle zip files for both games and bioses (although iirc without the unibios and other extras etc), which you can load into Retroach or something else. Just my 2 cents though.

Thanks for the response. I appreciate the help. I did plan on buying the Last Blade from GOG eventually. I do own the sequel through Steam, but I also would love to own it on GOG. By the way, just to help out anyone else, Samurai Shodown V Special on GOG has been updated to the "Code Mystics, Inc." port . It has rollback netcode, training mode, gallery, etc. I highly recommend checking it out here on GOG. I do know that Samurai Shodown 2 has the ROM included with it, but I wanted to know if it has the BIOS as well. Perhaps if you download the unsupported MACOS version the BIOS will be included. I haven't tried it myself, but thats just what I have heard from others. I don't own a MAC device so I have no idea. But it is what it is.
Again, I highly appreciate the help. Perhaps I should only buy the true ports of games like Samurai Shodown V Special, King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match, King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match and King of Fighters 13 Galaxy Edition.

Ah thanks for the info, you just gave me an idea. I've downloaded The Last blade mac version from the extras here and it's a zip file you can unpack fully on windows too. It has both lastblad.zip rom and neogeo.zip bioses, which contains way more of them compared to the ones from humble bundle, unibios included too, etc. I haven't tried to load into any emulators though, but if you want me to check something or list you the bioses inside the zip file, let me know.

I know that SamShoVspecial got updated this summer to Code Mystics port, but not many people have noticed indeed... likely thanks to those outdated reviews on the front page that relates to the old dotemu port. Btw it got bump in price too for that very reason so it cost double of what it used to - but on the other hand, it's on par with steam now. I got bummered that I haven't bought it during the steep sale just prior to that :P But I'll get it along with Garou and some others eventually. SamSho2 I got from humble, but I'm way more into Last blade than any other SNK games tbh. Maybe I should just get TLB2 from steam too, been 2 years and no gog version to this day, so I shouldn't hold my breath any longer.
From the rest of ports, I've heard tons of good about both KoF UM versions and anything involving Code Mysttics in general. What makes me wonder in case of SNK though is that some games are exclusive to one platform...e.g. samsho2 is on gog and humble, but not on steam, art of fighting 2 is on gog and humble, the last blade 2 is on steam but nowhere else, neo turf masters is on humble but steam and gog versions are no longer available iirc. It's all kinda strange imo. Was thinking to get Metal slug games too...
